I just pulled the trigger and got my P5. I got it home and was all ready to install my garmin cadence sensor on it when low and behold, there is not enough clearance between the crank arm and the frame for the garmin magnet. Does anyone know of an ant+ cadence sensor which will be able to be mounted on the P5 without having any clearance issues? Thanks.
A Quarq (not sure if SRM does cadence) I would check out www.dcrainmaker.com and do a search on there. He has posted some nifty magnets on there before.
I’m not really familiar with the P5, but you should be able to find an old rare earth magnet that should be small enough. Just glue it to the back of the crankarm.

Yeah that is on the short list of things to do next but to keep a low budget I wanted to do the $30 garmin for now.
I’ve bought from K&J magnetics before…they sell magnets as thin as 1/16 I believe, but I would imagine that a 1/8 or 3/16 would still fit. Any of the above ought to be strong enough to trip the hall effect sensor or whatever is in the GSC10.

Thanks for idea I never realized they you could use these. I found a cheap magnet on amazon which fits into the pedal spindle hole on the back of the arm. Should be perfect.
I had a similar problem with my cx bike. I took the garmin magnet and removed the superfluous plastic (via judicious application of a vise grip, a screwdriver, and hamfistedness) and attached the bare magnet to the back of the ferrous pedal spindle. Works perfectly. Some have suggested the use of silicon sealant to make sure it doesn’t go anywhere - but it’s a strong magnet, and unless your rides are super bumpy it ought to stay put.

I will have to see what magnet they used on mine. But my P5 has a Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor on it without issue. Both functions work fine, and no contact points anywhere.
