I have been an interested spectator recently in relation to all of the discussion about the wonders of the Cervelo P3. However, today I got to see one up close and personal for the first time. What do they say about love at first sight …
Unfortunately the price tag is a little too steep for my liking (especially as I have to fund the family trip to Germany this summer for my IM experience, so my trusty Giant will have to do the trick). However, if I had the cash I too would be enjoying the experience …
I’ll probably get flamed for saying this, but personally I’ve never thought that the P3 offered much practical real world advantage over the less expensive P2K. However, if you want a P3, I’ll bet that there’s going to be a lot of P3 framesets up for sale on ebay once the P3C becomes available.

all custom paint jobs aside, having seen the P3C in person at the boston bike show today, I’d have to agree. That thing is something else. The new black anodized Soloist looks really nice too. The coolest thing I saw though was a crazy light $10500 Santana Carbon tube/Ti lug tandem. Wow.
As many mention you can easily find a P3 frame on ebay. I would even encourage to send an email directly to cervelo so they can find the closest dealer near you. I’m sure that they might have some last year frame, you could probably have a good deal on it.
I have been riding cervelo bikes since 1998 (Eyre), I got the P3 in 2001 and last year the soloist. I know I’m sold to the brand… but I found that they offer great ride. I couldn’t get this year the P3C, family first… so I re-paint my P3, to have the same look as the P3C.
I saw the P3C at the Toronto bike show and was totally blown away. It literally stole the show despite the fact there was a lot of other nice bikes there, but nothing was as mouth watering.
As for the black anodized Soloist, I personally felt it really looked like shit compared to last years red/white CSC model. But beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

You mean red/black.
KNY, love the paint. Nice touch having the post painted.
"Does anyone know when the official release date is going to be? "
I asked the folks at Endurosport at their booth at the Toronto Bike Show. That’s where I saw the P3C on display. They are one of Cervelo’s preferred dealers and they didn’t even know the release date for the P3C.
They also didn’t know the price.
Which reminded of what the Roll Royce dealers used to say …If you have to ask you can’t afford it.
I think the price was and is in the $4400 range (+/-) a hundred or so.
Sounds like a bargain when you compare the P3C to the other high end bikes on the market.
When I ordered it in November they mentioned a Spring 2005 release; possibly March or April. Wonder who/what shops are first on the list to receive it??
i never got to see that red/black one live (it did look nice w/ Kurt-Asle Arvesen crashing it but the down tube on the blue/black one looked HUGE - quite ugly. I really like the stealth factor of everything black w/ white bar tapes and the clean lines of the Campy shifters w/ the integrated shifter cables. That seatpost sure looks clunky though. But this comes from a guy who once once owned a neon red Klein Attitude!
Another really cool thing that I saw was the Ti hubs on the Bontrager X race lite wheels. Fancy.
