Saddle was tilting down and there was some play. I could move it with my hands even after being tightened to the point where I snapped the clamp bolt screw. The “teeth” on my saddle clamp look good, but I was wondering if the saddle was tilting because the “teeth” are worn on the seatpost hole. Is this a normal thing? Tried searching on the web and it doesn’t seem common. Is my only solution to get a new seatpost? Any help is appreciated.
And another thought. Given the teeth in the post are worn, it may have been that the male/female bolts in the seat clamp bottomed out before properly tightening, which may have resulted in the snapped bolt. You may want to try slightly shorter clamp bolts so the expansion wedge can do its job. And the issue there is about friction so something like carbon friction paste in there too might help.
Thanks. I’m thinking about the bottoming out theory too. My clamp assembly looks good so maybe shorter bolt like you said. Hopefully don’t have to get a whole new seatpost.
If yours turns out to not work anymore, I have one left, which I’m more than happy to provide to you. You just have to pay me the shipping cost. Broke my P2 fork a while ago and still have everything lying around in the garage.
