Cervelo P2 seat tilt adjustment help

OK, this might be a stupid question but I can’t figure it out. On my old bike, if you wanted to adjust the tilt of the seat you would loosen the bolts, turn the little knob which adjusted the titl, and tighten everything up again. I recently got a P2 and it has the big round hole that the seat fits into. Then two allen wrench screws that you can loosen. But when I tighten them again the saddle seems to go into the exact same position. I am pretty sure you’re meant to adjust something else but what? Does that big connector into the seatpost swivel? I’m not even sure if my question makes sense to anyone but hopefully someone can chime in. Thanks.

Nothing else to adjust. Just loosen one of the allen wrench screws enough to move the seat with some resistance and hold it in place while you tighten it back up. The two screws work against each other so tightening one will tighten the other, no need to wrench on both. Hope that helps.

A trick I’ve used, is put the seat tilt where you want it and put a level on it. As you tighten the bolt and it starts to get snug it’ll want to pull the seat nose up, use the palm of your hand to hammer the seat back to the angle you want it at (using the level) and continue to snug the bolt.

It’s not the easiest thing to adjust, but the good news is once you get it where you want it, it stays put.

What a coincidence. I am working on a piece for the 2011 Old Farmers Almanac that covers this exact topic:

“Once you have determined the correct seat tillt angle for your P3C or P2C, place a light coating of regular toothpaste (not the gel kind) around the inside of the seatpost hole/cut out. This will eliminate future seat tilt/slippage issues.”

Actually that is for the P2SL, not the P2. They have different seat posts and different setups. My question was how to do this on a P2 but the other responses have addressed that. Thanks all- I’ll give it a shot. It seemed too simple to just loosen the bolts, put it where you want it and tighten it but sometimes things are not as complicated as you think. Cheers.

One other tip is once you have the seat level and bolts tightened to spec, you should moderately tap the fore/aft parts of the seat (kind of like slapping a basketball). This can help ensure the clamp/bolts are seated. Re-check torque/re-tighten if needed.
