Cervelo P2 51 or 54cm?

Hey all, I’m 5’ 8". I’m looking for 2014 p2. There are two I might bid on but cannot try either. I know the P2 is very adjustable so which would fit best based on ST knowledge. I will get a when I can but would have to put off the purchase for a few months(tri season).

Thanks,
Russell

Ps also going to post a WTB on classifieds.

There are many factors to consider other than height, but my 2cents - I’m 172cm so about the same height and bought a 54cm 2013 P2. It was too big. Yes they are very adjustable, but I had to chop off part of the seat post and change the handlebar stem to a negative-angled one and even then, it wasn’t a great fit. I know guys over 6 foot riding 54cm P2s. I’ve now got a 2015 P2 51cm and it fits much better, I still had to cut the seatpost though, so I could probably have fitted on a 48cm.

So I should be looking for a 51cm?

I’m 5’10 and ride a 54, without knowing more about your fit coordinates I would say definitely go for the 51 and not the 54.

So I should be looking for a 51cm?

Definitely.
Just as an example Frederik Van Lierde is 6’1 and rides a 54cm and Tim van Berkel who is 6’ rides a 51cm P5.

Thanks everyone. I will keep an eye out for a 51. So if anyone is selling a 51 let me know. Also did the frame change to the new one 13 or 14? I looking to buy used so the usual sites.

Thanks again,

Russell

and I am 5-9 and ride a 48(700c). really depends on what stack you want to achieve with pads and if going low, do you want a neg angle stem

I’m 5’10 and ride a 51 P3C and a 54 R5. Do you know what stack and reach you need? You could be either a 48 or a 51 on a TT bike.

i’m 5’6 and ride a size 51 soloist.
never ridden a true tri bike by cervelo. have test ridden two other cervelo road bikes - i think it was the R3 and the carbon soloist? the names have been changed since then. But it was when cervelo was driving around the US with a truck full of bikes for people to test. i mention this because when the cervelo guy looked at me, and i think did some very cursory measurements (not pretending to be a full fitting/sizing), he said i was btwn a 51 and a 54.
