I am looking to buy a used Cervelo P2 (carbon). Can anyone tell me what year Cervelo started making the P2 that has the same shape and geometry as the current (2012) P2? Thanks.

Since the first carbon P2 nothing has changed other than the mounting of the front derailleur mount to accomodate compact cranks.

P2C came out in 2008, 2009 changed the front mount and the name to P2. There may have been a different fork starting in 2009 as well (3T). Under the bottom bracket with the serial number the year it was built will be listed.

I believe there have been some changes to the fork as well. I believe the fork on the 2012 is upgraded from prior years, the aero bar may be different as well.

It was before that cuz Chrissy won the 2007 IM World champs on a P2

First P2C came out in '06, blue/black frame w/ black Wolf fork.
2007 was the same design/fork, but white w/ black & red panels or an alternate black/silver if you got the Ultegra vs the DA or frameset only.
2008 (what I have) was also white/red/black but more of a ‘splice’ vs a ‘block’ pattern and mid-year they switched to a new color-matched red 3T fork
2009 they dropped the ‘C’ when they bumped the old P2K (alu) to ‘P1’; color scheme was either blue/silver or red/silver
2010 was white/red; I think still had the white 3T fork as the new Cervelo fork didn’t trickle down from the P4/P3 until the next year.

I forget, after looking at some of those pics the original 2006 seatpost was slightly different (holes offset further back). Looks like the current version dates from '07 although most of the '06 frames appear to have updated to the newer posts.
