I’m down to the 2009 Cervelo P1 $1800 and the 2009 Felt S32 $1600.
Both fit and feel great. Any pros and cons on which to go with? i’ll be riding it stock for a year then adding some race wheels next season.
any one have links to reviews and ratings on these bikes?
You can build it into a great race bike. Here is a pic of mine:

I think bikesportmichigan might have reviews of these models. FWIW, the p1 is a p2k/p2sl.
A few of things to consider…
The Felt comes with 53/39 chain rings, the P1 is compact (50/34). Do you know which you prefer? Sure they can be changed but that’s more $$.
The P1 is Ultegra and the S32 is 105. Both have DA shifters. Nothing wrong with 105 so you’ll need to decide if it’s worth more $$ for Ultegra.
My last point is to go with the bike you like to look at/be seen on. You’ll ride it more and get more out of it. Oddly, they have similar paint schemes.
FWIW, I really like my P2SL and don’t plan to change bikes anytime soon.
love the photo of the P1. that is what I’m looking to do for next year. I really like the look of the 3 spoke for my racing wheels.
I was leaning towards to Felt because the bike shop is close and not a lot of people have Felt vs Cervelo. Now I’m thinking of driving the 2 hours to get a Cervelo.
I train in a hilly area. Anyone that has done the Tri-Hawk with the University of Iowa will tell you that it’s a tough course with the long hills and very few flat areas. I figure if I train on the hardest course we have, then most races won’t be that bad. So about the crank ratio I’m not sure what is better. I’m hoping to have some hill climbing in my bike, but I want a great top speed because I love going fast. Suggestions if I know a few of my races will have some dandy hills to climb while also having some nice flats to test the top speed.
Also is the Felt s22 better then the S32 or is it the other way? Felts 2009 book only shows S32, but my dealer only carries S22’s.
bump
Thanks for all the help.
Nice looking bike, but you do know they sell black duct tape at most any hardware store.
Keeping my P2SL for a few more years again, just what I need !
not the sexiest bike on earth, but efficient.
(duck taped too
The P1 is the latest version of the P2/P2K/P2SL. Very nice bike for the money. It’s cheaper now to buy a P1 than was the original P2K.
that’s intentional, FWIW. If i flat i want to know exactly where the valve hole is without having to look too hard.
How do you like that cover on the Cosmic Carbone? I’ve tended to think they wouldn’t mate well because the spokes enter the faring a bit low, but yours looks really clean. Did you have Rich at Wheelbuilder cut it for the Mavic?
Reviews? Thoughts?
You’d need to pry this bike from my cold, dead hands…

Fair enough, I really like the looks of all these all black bikes. The P1 looks like a heck of a deal on a really good bike, that would be more than enough bike for just about anybody.

it looks nice because it is on the drive side, and it’s perfectly flat.
The other side is not that clean, I taped it with electric tape.
I rode it at IMFL for the first time, no problemo.

The s22 is a step above the s32, but its a discontinued model. If you can still find one, you’ll probably get a decent deal on it. I’ve seen them for about $1600.
i had p2ksl for 2 seasons excellant bike you wont be dissapointed if you buy it.pretty sure there is data out there suggesting it is better than a lot of the carbon tt bikes out there today (or up untill last years bikes). tom a is still riding 1 so they cant be to bad:-)

Naah…I’m just too cheap…I’ll run the risk of running a semi-“Aero or die” setup on the P2K instead of just springing for a faster frame
That said…some preliminary testing of my 100K bar setup on the P2K suggests that, in combination with a new Jet 90 front wheel, I may have “closed the gap” between my old setup on the P2K and the P3C setup I tested last year. At least at 0 yaw, that is
edit: BTW, it’s nice to see that both of the bikes pictured in this thread with front H3s have narrow, fast tires on them…warms my heart
Show Pony said it best… I love my P2SL.
A couple additions to P2SLowery’s list of things to ponder:
- S32 routes the derailleur cables external to the downtube. Aero weenies, er, gurus and fashionistas would label that ‘sub-optimal’.
- S32 sports a round seattube/seatpost. Great if you want to change out seatposts, not so good for aero.
- S32 is 650c wheels for size 48 and 50 frames, P1 is 650c for the size 48 frame only.
- Felt branded cockpit (Profile?) on the S32 vs Vision on the P1… only matters if you have a preference.
- P1 may get lost in transition since the cervelo paint scheme is so prevalent these days. Not a problem for me as I have the grey anodized frame… doesn’t blend in with the carbon paint schemes.
2008 S22 is a better bike than the 2009 S32. It adds the aero seat tube/post, upgraded Profile cockpit, ultegra drive train, and carbon wishbone seatstays. All in all a much closer comparison to the P1. Also specs an 11-23 cassette. Standard cranks + 11-23 = not so good on hills, but easy to change.
I’d buy my bike again in a heartbeat. Oh, and I’d haggle a little on the price of that P1… Cervelo website lists MSRP of $1750.
Any photos of your 100K setup? I’ve two sets that I’m about ready to install on my TT bikes.
Here’s how it ended up just after installation…since then I’ve added bar tape (white, of course) from the shifters all the way to the pads, and also added a “bridge” across the extensions about where the forward most strips of electrical tape are shown to mount the PT head unit. I also haven’t tested out whether or not I want to raise the angle of the whole bar setup yet or not (right now with the bars level, my hands are slightly lower than they were last year)…
I love my P2SL.
cervelos are nice looking bikes
