Cervelo p-series 105 vs felt IA 105

hi folks -
i’m torn between these two bikes.
-assume the 2023, 105 versions of both bikes
-assume both are available.
-assume both bought in brick-and-mortar shops, with some possibility for upgrade/add-on/sweeteners/etc
-assume an athlete with normal proportions/dimensions who will be able to swap stems/saddles/etc to dial in the fit
-assume an athlete prioritizing middle/long distance
-already has a good quality road/gravel bike
-some infrequent but long-haul international travel

what are the pros and cons of each? anyone riding one? both?

I would pick the Felt just because the Cervelo has stupid cable brakes

Are these easier or harder to travel with than mechanical ? If know SFA when it comes to brakes.

oh, well spotted! i live in the alps, and really prefer hydraulics.

P series front end is far more adjustable and easier for travel. Likely much lighter as well.

interesting stuff - easier how? like disassembly? it seems cervelo run basically a standard fork/stem; does felt do something weird?
tough to get weight info on; seems like the felt might be 10.4 kilos vs 9.9 for the cervelo.

Yes, Cervelo is a standard stem and basebar/extensions. That makes it really easy to fit and travel with. The Felt models I’ve seen have their stem so might be a bit less adaptable of easy to find. They’ve also been heavier if that matters to you.

I didn’t realize Shimano was still selling mech disc calipers in 105 and above…

I too would pass on it for that reason alone. Otherwise I would have said whichever bike you like the look of the most. I have a Felt IA Disc bike and like it. If I were buying a new bike, I’d prob go with a Trek speed concept, but that will be more $$ than the ones you are looking at.

i’ll confess i like the look of the felt more, and could probably get it at a better price.
i’ve ridden cervelo for years and know that it carries many upsides too.
