Cervelo One is in...and a question

Got my Cervelo one in yesterday, and like akid at Christmas I opened it up and started putting it together. Looks real nice, some pretty good components. Have to do some adjustments to the length of the aero bars, etc., which I fully expected, so that is no problem. BTW, kudos to Inside OUt Sports, Cid and Kyle were patient with all my questions and whatnot, and I would certainly not hesitate to do business with them again if the opportunity arose.

I have one question though: After getting everything done i possibly could, I noticed there are 4 screws with the blue glue on them, and two rubber pieces in the form of an “8”. Any ideas as to what these are for? I’ve gone over the bike, and I can’t see where they go. Thanks.

Does that have horizontal dropouts? Those sound like set-screws for the horizontal dropouts. The blue stuff is threadlock medium strength. I don’t know what the rubber pieces are. Got pics?

probably not rear set screws as there are four. the pieces might be risers for the aerobars…post some pics and someone will know.

Most likely for the aerobars. Aerobars often ship with spacers for use under the armrests, and two different lengths of screws, dependign whether the spacer is used or not.

Yup, those should be for the Syntace aerobars. Check the screws that are under or in the aerobar pads (remove the velcro pads and you’ll see what I mean). That should be what you’re looking for.

Why is everyone suddenly talking about Ones? I’ve had one for a few years (a 2002) and may be selling it soon. What gives, why are people getting new Ones all of a sudden?

You must have missed it, but about a month ago Inside Out Sports had them for sale for $499 (new old stock). It was like a feeding frenzy! Who got an acceptance email and who didn’t. Who’s getting 1 and who’s not! I glad I got a 1 for my daughter. Back in 2000,when I was interested in a Cervelo, it was the only model that made sense to me. How much did the 1 cost new in 2002?

I got my 2002 One in 2004, a 650c 54cm that had been in the LBS’s stock for a while. “List” on it was 1499 with 105 components all around, I picked it up for 999. Great deal, great bike. I’m sure everyone who picked one up will be happy with it! Mine has served me for thousands of miles without significant problems, I’m still debating wether to use it as a commuting bike for a while before selling it.

The ONE problem I had was with the derailleur hanger - mine bent during transport in the back of my car. The part is still available through Cervelo’s website, if you have a One it may be worth it to have one on hand if this happens to you.

Otherwise, awesome, bombproof bike.
