Cervelo Decals (1)

Any one have any recommendations on where to get replacement Cervelo decals? I see a lot on ebay and the internet but I suspect a lot them are probably crap. I have a 2001 P2K and after years sitting in my basement that I am going rebuild and get properly fit on to see if I like it better than my current ride.
Those of you may remember that the earlier Cervelos had some problems with chipping and with the decals peeling. Anyway, with my first venturing into using a paint gun, I am going to try to repaint it and put new decals on over the winter. Hopefully I will start riding it again this spring. I am not trying to resell it or anything, I just want to customize it and return it to its former glory.

I went through the same search a few years ago when I decided to have my P3 custom painted. I even went so far as to contact Cervelo directly. Their response to me was that they did not make the decals available to the aftermarket so as to prevent them from being applied to non-Cervelo bikes. They did offer to put me in touch with their “official” bike repainting shop (somewhere in Upstate New York if I recall correctly).

I went an alternate route: the custom painter who did my bike made himself a set of stencils prior to stripping the old finish off of my bike and then actually painted the letters on as part of the paint job. I was very happy with the results.

I had the same response from them awhile ago. Totally understandable except I thought that it was kind of poor customer service considering that the paint and decals practically fell off if you breathed on the frame. Most people I knew with the 2001 P2k had tons of problems with their paint/decals flaking off. The next years frames were greatly improved, so I was a bit bitter because I consider this a manufacturing defect.
I could never figure out why I couldn’t get buy replacement if I gave them the serial number.

just email and tell them size/color they will cut out and ship right away.

Just download the logo in EPS (Google) and have a local guy make the decals for you… cheap and easy…

You could possibly get some for hot tubes in Mass. He just painted my P3C and had to change the color of the decals…and he did a great job on the paint.

I had custom downtube decals done by this guy. I used a custom font and a custom color not found on his page and it was $10 for a pair.

where do you find the logo in an EPS file format?

thanks.

Go to the cervelo website and download the owners manual in pdf.

A good designer or sign shop can “extract” the logo from the manual.

.

If high quality unofficial decals are widely, readily, and inexpensively available, what does Cervelo gain by continuing to annoy its customers?

EPS images are infinitely scalable… size doesn’t matter. If you want to use a JPEG, then original size matters, since scaling will distort the image quality… you can use the JPEG and then mask the vectors over top, creating a new layer and save it… there are alot of ways the illustrator can do it…
