My '05 Dual has the screwed-in plastic cable guide beneath the bottom bracket, but it doesn’t even come close to keeping the cable from running up the back side of the BB on its way to the front derailleur. As such the cable rubs against the paint/metal every time I shift. My Giant & Felt both have guides that cover the bb completely and prevent this situation. Does the '06 Dual have this same part? Is there a replacement cable guide I can switch to? I wasn’t sure if this is a model-specific part or if any cervelo or other maker’s guide would match up.
I have had nothing but disappointment with Cervelo. My Giant TCR Advanced is my favorite of 5 highend Carbon road bikes.
You’re supposed to put a piece of cable housing there, bucko.
It’s a very short section of cable, less than 6" I believe. No cable stays or anything that would indicate that housing would go there, in fact I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. The others I’ve seen have a cable guide that wraps around the bb fully & keeps the cable off the frame.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen housing running up to the front der from the bottom bracket along the seat tube. Have you?

P2K does.
Mine does the same thing on a R 2.5. Changed it out with a TREK one and it works great. Mine was rubbing on the carbon right at the BB.
It looks like they took a part and just stuck it on. Maybe they have changed/updated tham on the new bikes.
I love my 04 Dual, but it did the same thing.
I took a piece of cable housing inner liner (looks like a small opaque straw) and ran it through the the bb cable guide and up the back to prevent the rubbing on the frame. Problem solved.
Try it next time you change your cables out.

I had to do the same for my Kestrel TalonSL… it works fine, you need a small peice of housing.
Do you know if the R2.5 uses the same 2-hole mounting for the guide as the Dual? If so, did the holes in the Trek piece line up with the holes in the frame? Where did you get it (old bike, LBS, ???) Any idea of the part number?
Thanks.

Any issues with water/condensation collecting in this short piece of housing? Is there an end on this short piece of cable? Got a pic, by any chance?
Steve
There are two braze ons or whatever that the cable will fit between.
