I’ve looked into repurposing the down tube aero bottle that comes standard on the Cervélo P5 and P-Series into a flat kit. Seems cutting a square-shaped hole on the frame-facing side of the bottle and stuffing it with the essentials is the preferred method, since this bottle is virtually impossible to utilize for its intended purpose. Curious whether anyone has come up with any other creative uses or good replacement options for this bottle.
I don’t know why there isn’t an aftermarket company that makes a well functioning bottle for Cervelo and Trek that is designed like OEM.
My son’s bottle on his Orbea Ordu doesn’t leak, rattle, eject and is easy to squirt water. It looks much like the P5’s bottle and frame mount.
I replaced mine with an XLab Aero TT bottle. It’s still a bit of a reach, but it snaps in and out much easier and has a texture to help grab it.
For my toolkit, I got one of the 3D printed behind the seat boxes from Yann (custombikexcessories.com).
I considered cutting up the stock bottle, but with the on-course drinks now being Mortal Hydration, I’d rather have an extra drink bottle of my own.
Look at Taylor Knibb’s frame bottle setup on her Trek.

, since this bottle is virtually impossible to utilize for its intended purpose.
So it’s not just me then!
I just bought the Radsport Ibert Aero Toolbox that mounts just above the BB area, lots of storage room and has a mount for an Elite Chrono aero bottle. It It’s a lot heavier than I thought it would be and more of a shiny finish but it functions great. I use Precision Hydration Flow gel in the aero bottle and have a rear mounted bottle and a BTA and so far the whole setup is working great for me.
I manage to get my whole flat kit into the bento boxes of the P5, including 2 tubes/CO2 cartridges.
This is possible with TPU tubes that take much less space.
I did this exact thing and it works fine. I cut up an old tube and used it to keep everything in my flat kit from rattling also.
