Hi! looking for upgrading my bike with some oversized ceramic pulley wheels.
What are your thoughts on both Ceramic Speed OSPW (coated version) and de SLF Motion oversize Hyper Speed System.
Beyond price, wich performs better and why?
Thanks!!

SLF MOTION! It’s a great dude, making even better products. With his help I put his new HYPER BB in my track bike just before elite nats and they helped me earn a call from the USAC Men’s endurance track coach. (What that call means exactly, remains to be seen.) When all my money isn’t going toward my track gear, I hope to outfit my TT and road bike with his gear.
I am one sided on this but also road on both; both a great products. Blake’s customer service is amazing, product I have been on since the beginning and is solid trouble free product. Your looking at the bigger guy thats outside the usa vs the local guy that can adapt faster to the market has a personal touch and in my opinion a better product at a cheaper price. So do you want to support the big brand product overseas or the small guy that has a cheaper / lighter system? Your call.
Even though I have support from SLF I dont need it and I dont stand behind any products I dont believe in.
I can hear a bald eagle in the distance…
USA
Have used both and cannot tell the difference between them while riding.
Service from CS is superb too: they even provide free support in some races for their clients.
Currently running on SLF on my Tri bike.
Last, I sincerely don’t think they are worth their cost, but I use them anyway. Meaning, you don’t really need them, but if they make you happy, go for it.
Not denying but if given the option of a cheaper faster (last time there was independence testing done) product made locally… give me the local product.
CeramicSpeed’s customer service has been second to none. 3 times I have emailed with questions in the middle of the day and received responses within 1 hour from Klaus in Denmark. When I misplaced a new BB parts during a recent move, they 2-day air’d them for FREE. I repeat, they 2-day air’d FREE replacement parts at least 3 times for FREE, from Denmark.
I have the OSPW system on my allez. It’s great.
I have the BB30 bearings on my allez as well, they are buttery smooth.
I have the BB86 GXP bottom bracket on my Trek Crockett. Spins all day in rain or shine and dead quiet as well.
My dad has the threaded GXP bottom bracket on his moots. It is hands down the best BB i’ve seen and used.
All 4 items were purchased used. 3 of them required parts from CeramicSpeed due to my own errors. They came through and were super helpful.
A big +1 for the guys from Denmark.
I’m very pleased with SLF Motion. They look good also.
Ceramic Speed are an overpriced POS. You have to constantly oil the bearings or after a few wet rides they bind up and the cage is made of plastic that doesn’t change as well as an aluminium cage and mine shattered when my chain jumped over a bump and one side of the cage broke off. Don’t waste your money there are plenty of better and better value cages out there.
this is a great thread for observing who has gone too far into the marginal gains pandora’s box.
Even better - get the 12/14T pulleys with ceramic bearings from Premier Bike. $80 and you don’t have to change your pulley cage. True, you don’t get the lower spring tension, but it’ll get you half way there for a fraction of the cost.
