Does anyone out there own (or have experience riding) the Ironman Slice Aero Si?
I’m pretty close to pulling the trigger on getting one. I’ve looked seriously at QR, Cervelo and several other brands and I keep coming back to C’Dale because the local shop near my house provides amazing service.
I rode the Ironman 5000, the 2004 version of that bike and absolutely loved it. It was set up with full DA, Reynolds Ouzo Pro Aero fork, HED bars and I rode it steep at 80+ degrees. Awesome bike, rocketship like acceleration, super light, and felt comfy to me.
I also have a 2004 ironman 5000. Absolutely love it. Very nice riding, and remarkably light and responsive. Also, if you are happy with you lbs then that is always a plus.
I’m really liking mine. It’s got a great ride (and I was riding really nice Ti before) and I’ve found a good, comfortable fit on it. It’s not fancy, just a solid workhorse. As seen, mine weighs 17lbs. I switched out the bars and seatpost, sold the Zipp clinchers, and ride Easton Vista wheels for training.
Profile Design T2 base bar. It has more hand options than the Vision Tech base bar on my old bike. The aerobars are Oval carbon single bends. I’m not an s-bend guy and these were perfect. The bend is shallow and can be adjusted fore and aft, which I really like. Tektro carbon brake levers (came with the IM 1) and Cee-Gee pads.
I don’t know, I’ll let you know April 10th. I’ve been in the saddle for as long as 4.5 hours and had no problems with my transition runs…so far. IMO, 90% of bike comfort comes from proper position.
heeheehee, my training buddy has a six13 tri bike on the way;) That’s gonna be saweet! Shoudl be here very very soon. Yes, I know they are not technically availible, but the bastard is fast and I think C-dale is hoping to see his bike first out of T1 at Ralphs:)
I’d like some guidance/opinions on pedals for this bike…I’m inclined to stick with Speedplay Zeros because #1 - I like them #2 - I have them on my Road bike and don’t have to worry about buying another pair of shoes for my Tri/TT bike.
ASICS has a good relationship with Cannondale, so I got it direct. The extra decal on the top tube is my LBS, Edge Cyclesports in Orange County, CA. They built the bike for me. If you like the Speedplays, keep’em. No reason to switch.
I’ve got speedplays on my tri bike, and am thinking of changing them for next season. Great pedals but the cleats tend to get clogged easily when in contact with dirt. It took me a good minute or so to spray out the clips with a waterbottle just to clip in after my last roadside pitstop. T1 could get very ugly.
Shawn, how do you like the single bends? I currently ride with carbon strykes and they seem a little too bent, but I tried S-bends when I got fit and they definitely weren’t very comfortable. I think the single bend looks like the way to go.
