Cateye double-wireless computer

Kinda neat…

Any expereince with this? Our expereince with wireless units has been nothing but frustration.

I had multiple problems with my cateye double wireless computer and finally gave up. I worked with my shop on that piece of crud from two weeks. I would try and work on it, and then they would try. Someone would get it to work for about 1 or 2 rides tops and then it would stop working. Completely worhtless. Instead the shop helped me out and gave me a Cateye cadence and wired computer.

Note: That particular computer is now listed as “discontinued” by Performance Bicycle. Didn’t that model just come out? Man! And I was gonna get one!?? Seems like a real wheel based sensor system (affordable) is like the White Whale…

We got some of the new Mavic Wireless units. Those seem slightly more promising.

I bet this is driven by the sort of problems that Tom aluded to in his earlier post. Of course many might be mislead by this since I am pretty sure that in this case, Cateye has not discontinued production/marketing of that particular model but that Perfomance has discontinued carrying/selling of that model. I just read a review from last week authored by someone who had purchased that model from a LBS and thus far was really enjoying using it!

The wireless Cateye model CD300DW seems pretty much unavailable in US market right now, (internet search), so presuming that the dual wireless is not working out well for most and has been dropped by stores; Has anyone tried the similar Cateye wired computer cc-tr100 heart rate/cadence/speed computer. Display seems a little busy. I liked the suggestion for Echo F2, does it read off rear wheel, (for trainer use)?

Just got a vetta v100 with wireless cadence. Works fine.

I am a manager of a bike store (bikeusa.com) and have been looking for those computers ever since i have seen advertisement the biggest distributor in the country has never seen any of the models come in stock. They were suppose to arrive in may, then it was late june, they still werent in today so who knows. I do have two friends that ride the mavic computer and love it (they only have the speed version only). I have had one on back order since march, some bike shops do have them but if you have to wait for them there is a lonnnnng waiting period from mavic. They didnt expect the computer to be that big of a hit i guess.

I, too, use a Vetta V100 wireless with cadence computer and all 3 of mine have worked great! Very user friendly and no malfunctions.

I’ve been using the Vetta wireless Cadence/Speed (I think it’s called the V100) for almost a year now with Zero problems. (fingers crossed)

Don’t waist your time and money with cateye… when I first started to bike I bought the mity 2 (i think that was his name) and gave me all kind of problems, so I gave up and went for sigma sport. Despite minor problems it was pretty good actually. Then it was time to go wireless… i bought a Polar S720i…

I have one with wireless speed and cadence sensor and guess what… i have it for a year now and not a single problem!! Just perfect…

when i trash the S720i I will still buy another Polar from S-Series… they are just too damn good!

Interesting - a relatively new bike shop located only 5-minutes from my office has had a stack (at least 10) of the Cateye double wireless computers in their display case for the last 3-weeks (PM me for the phone number since they will ship USPS). Personally I want a couple of the TR100 model (as well as a couple extra wiring harnesses for the other bikes) but the only place I have even seen it offered is in Nashbar’s catalog but they dont expect inventory until August!

Looks cool but at $150 I think that I’ll stay with my Vetta RT77 for awile longer.
