Castelli BodyPaint 4.X Speedsuit - Sizing

I am looking for some sizing advice on the Castelli BP 4.X. suit from either those who have one, or have experience with this speedsuit.

I have an “A” stage race coming up very soon and I am in need of a new TT skinsuit. It looks like this is the best option for me considering the options for suits that test well and what I can actually get my hands on right now. I recognize that “tests well” depends on a few factors including each individual, helmet etc…

I am 5’11" tall; 147 lb; 32" waist; 37.5" chest; 34" inseam; average arm length for my size and skinny bike racer biceps.

Based on Castelli’s size chart, I’m thinking I can squeeze into a size medium, but I know some Castelli pieces run very small, so hence the reason for this post.

I do not have the Bodypaint skinsuit but i do have the san remo.A Large at 6’ 170lb it fits me skin tight. I see no reason why a medium wouldnt fit you perfectly if sizing is comparable.

Remember, these things are made to be very tight, especially the one youre looking at since its a pure TT suit. It should be slightly uncomfortably tight. I wore mine around the house for a while to break it in and it works perfect

These things do stretch quite a bit. I have a 3.3 medium at 6’3" and 165 lbs. I recon a large would fit me best for comfort. You’ll be fine in the medium.

I’m 6’0", 165 +/- 3lbs or so, and am M in both San Remo and BP speedsuits, so M should be the best size for you.

I appreciate the input, folks.

@Refthimos - Is the size M in the BP speedsuit a “perfect” fit for you in the sense that you’re not leaving any watts on table but you’re not “sausages” into it? I am only asking because you have about 15 lb on me and 1" in height, so I am wondering if I might even be able to make a size S work without it being too restrictive. It’s only ever going to be used for 10-15 mile TT’s and maybe the odd 40K.

You don’t want a Small. The Medium will still be appropriately tight for you. And at 5’11", you would really be pushing the length of the suit more than you’d want.

Medium it is. Thanks very much for the insight and recommendation.

Well, how did it fit you? I’m myself also 5’11” at 74 kg (163 lbs), but I think more of L or even XL size.

I went with the size M as suggested and it’s perfect. I have to admit that when I first went to put it on I thought “no way”, but once I got it on and I stood up to stretch it a bit, I could tell it was the right size. I raced in it on Friday at a stage race and it worked out great.
