Cassette replacement

I have about 6000 miles on my roadbike cassette. I’ve changed the chain 3X, and am pretty careful about keeping the chain/cassette/chainrings clean, and the bike rides fine- no skipping whatsoever. My question: will replacing the cassette with a new one, (and a new chain too) offer a noticeable, crisper ride? Happy to hear from anyone with any experience in the matter…

Probably not … not yet. If you’ve changed your chain that often, you’ve probably avoided too much wear on the cassette and chainrings. I’d say give it another couple of thousand miles before you’ll notice any major difference from changing it out.

I’m a high-mileage rider and I always let my drivetrain components go WAY too long before replacement. Then it’s such a treat when I finally do it.
