Carmicheal?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this ‘supposed’ coach of Lance - Chris Carmicheal? I have a suspicion that he is a ‘media’ coach, hired to do those interviews and ‘appear’ to be a direct link to Lance Armstrong. Some of the things he has said seem a bit off key. Like during last year’s tour, he talked about transitioning from flatland riding to climbing. He mentioned that Lance has to get used to the slower cadences, like (60-70 rpm’s) (I can’t remember the exact numbers he used, but they were close this this. Well, has anyone ever seen Lance pedal at 60-70 rpm, even on a climb? How about 70-80 rpm? Or even 80-90? How could Lance’s personal coach not even know Lance’s pedaling style?

You posted this in another thread. What’s up with that?

Eric

it was buried under another title, so I thought I’d re post. What’s the big deal?

a media coach for sure. ferrari is the real coach. read the book, Lance Armstrongs War. i thought it was another lance book but it is much better and has great stories!

When he says Lance will do a low cadence, you’ve taken that out of context or he didn’t complete the explanation. Lance does strength workouts on the bike at a low cadence. What you see in races is a high cadence but it’s NOT JUST a high cadence. It’s high with a lot of power behind it. You don’t get that by just simply spinning the cranks fast ALL THE TIME in training. His coach likes to call that “tension workouts” which are done at a low cadence.

It’s spelled Carmichael.
