Sad. Sad for Carla’s family, Carla’s teammates, coach, the truck driver and many many others. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through work and life, it’s that there’s no rhyme or reason to when it’s your time.
I hope that someone reads about Carla and thinks twice about rolling that blind intersection, tells their mum and pops that they love them, puts the computer down and plays with the kids, calls up an old friend who you haven’t spoken to in a while and enjoys a really good piece of dessert. Life is so short and so sweet and you just never know…
Thanks for posting. We should all be constantly reminded about what’s at stake and how frequently these tragedies occur. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go call my folks…
“Turned around in front of an oncoming truck”. . .cringe
a sad day indeed.
Stay safe out there guys
I am so sad after hearing this. It is so much worse when tragedy strikes someone that you know. The last time that I saw her was in Banner Elk NC at a late season criterium.
She did put on quite the demonstration that day…singlehandedly decimating a field within 10 mins and winning solo. Her family lost a wonderful girl and we lost a real gem of a talent.
Peace be with you Carla.
