Carbon X Set up...you ever done this?

Let me start off with the fact that I do NOT like the new Carbon X extensions at all. Second, I like my carpet, love my yellow chair and yes I did pick all the colors. No I am not in a hurry to pick up after the Fig, my dog was to lazy to get up and into the shot and the damn fish could care less too.

But, I think I like the lever turned in the way that is shown…any of y’all ever ridden that way?

Taped together that position would be similar to the Scott Extreme bars used by Greg Welch to win Hawaii '94.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I could not remember “extreme” though…I was thinking 100K…but I knew it was not the “DH”

100K had the same spread hand position as the DH, only it was VERY narrow where one would grab for the “climbing position” and was not more than 12" wide or so. Great bar for a flying kilo on the track.

First of all; those extensions are awfull. They are the same ones that came with the Carbon Strike on my wife’s factory built Kestrel. She could never get comfortable with them and I changed the to a Syntace. Then I tried them on my road bike. They suck! Way too much verticle bend. There is no way to get comfortable with them. Right now they are out in the garage and will probably get thrown out eventually.

Secondly; what’s up with the carbon, what happened to ti? What new part did Campy sell you now?

I agree the stock extensions are way too wide. I had the same idea, until I thought I’d give the S-bend a try. Here is mine: CarbonX with HED S-bends.

Note: The bike is still under construction… I will be cutting down the steerer tube, adding cables and tape, etc…
Also, the carpet came with the house, and the impressions are from the filing cabiinets I just moved…

I’m using VT clip-ons and consistantly ride with both hands on the right aero extension. I find both hands on the same aero extension very comfortable.

If you’re not using those extensions, and you might throw them out, can I have them, please?

That is the CORRECT way to mount your shift levers! That’s my favorite way to go at least. Pull back to go harder, just goes the the flow better.

I have a new idea, screw the double extensions, lets just do a single extension right in the middle and you put both hands around it, you know one on top the other, more aero and definetely more exciting. Like a joystick in a video game.

Never did see the pt of the carbon X bars not that Profile’s Aluminum X and CBX Pro bars are lighter and so similar. Am I missing something?

They’re meant to be mounted the other way around, left on the right, and right on the left.(hint: the stickers are on the OUTSIDE of the bars)
.

There are stickers on both sides smart ass…

that’s funny…after getting properly fit on my bike…they are super comfortable now.

and the double bend gives you a pretty sweet choke up area as well for those hard efforts.

i wonder why nobody gets excited about MoJoes P3C …

Wow. You actually have a clean room in your house.
(As opposed to the room you keep your bikes in.)

You lying bastard! You didn’t post that pic to show us your s-bends. Lucky lying bastard…

yeah, that was all about the P3C…but he as an ALUMINUM steerer tube…and dents in his carpet…LOL
.

LOL… but did you try what I suggested?

Hey, I was just happy I had a timely reply. I’ve been lurking for a while. By the time I get to most threads, I would be tacking on a “yeah, me too”, or “what he said” kind of useless comment.

Bike Source was surprisingly quick when I went in to order the P3c.

The Wolf fork that came with the frame does have an AL steerer. Carbon would fit the overall theme better, but no one will see it. Besides, the AL steerer will make my ~200# butt feel better blasting down hill at 56mph+.

The HED S extensions are AL too. Half the price of the carbons (compared to the frame and wheels, a drop in the bucket), but more importantly, the AL extensions were in stock!

I am excited to actually finish the bike and be able to ride it!

I hope you like yours more than I like mine. More often than not I go out on the P3, fiddle with the fit…then ride it home and get out the Softride or the Litespeed. Hell, the other day I even took out a 15 year old Basso over the P3…down tube shifters and all.

R10C,

Look into the Profile Design T-Bracket kit to get the armrest in better position. I switched out of the Carbon X for the CBX.
