Carbon Stryke armrest question

Just fitted some Carbon Strykes to my QR Caliente, replacing the previous Aerolites. I can’t seem to get the arm rests back enough so my elbow bend is close to 90 degrees, like I could on the Aerolites. And my elbows stick out even with the pads at their innermost position. Last night, I took the armrest plates and mounted them directly to the top of the clamp. That gets my elbows more in line with the extensions and inside the line of my shoulders. Doesn’t solve the arm angle problem tho’ - in fact moves the forearm further forward.

My question is: has anyone done this, and will the one screw hold the armrest securely (maybe some blue loctite would make me feel a bit better about that)? Also, any suggestions for a method of mounting the armrests that would allow them to be further behind the base bar? The Profile plate has a serration which is a great idea, but precludes making a flat plate myself.

Thanks

Cheers
