Carbon rail saddle and a Cervelo

Is it just me or is there a problem mounting a Fizik Airone Tri2 carbon to a 2011 Cervelo? I got a P2 and I can’t get my carbon rail saddle to fit. I didnt want to force the saddle and break it. The rails do seem a little thicker than the stock one but I was wondering if someone had been sucessful at installing it.

In a word, incompatible. To the best of my knowledge, Cervelo posts accept ONLY round saddle rails. The Tri2 carbon rails are OVAL. Buy a Kestrel 4000 to go with your saddle. I can personally testify it fits:)

Nope doesnt fit…
I found out after a customer bought both the saddle and the bike, and we shipped it to italy.
He was happy!

Bummer, thanks guys!

The use of carbon for saddle rails is just plain silly IMHO…

I sanded the seatpost part that accepts the rail down a little with a circular grinder(like a dremel) and mine fits perfect.

Maybe but 99 bucks for a new saddle was a good deal when it was on my Felt.

Hmm, that’s an interesting idea. If I can borrow that tool from someone I might consider that but the saddle the bike came with isn’t that bad. Just a few grams heavier than the carbon.

You are taking quit a risk. There is no excess material that you can safely remove. The lay up shedule for any composite structure is dependent upon the integrity of every layer. Breaking any of the fibers could lead to failure.

Not talking about the seat rail, talking about the aluminum clamp that the rail fits into.
