Carbo Pro v Hammer Sustained Energy v. Perpetuem

Group,

What are the opinions/experience on the above? I am thinking of switching from Champoin Metabolol Endurance/Cytomax.

Many thanks,

Need more info: what are you looking for? Race distance, etc.? Will you use this exclusively or also eat something else?

Tom

Sorry - to be used as the main fuel for IM training and racing.

Thanks,

I use the Carbo Pro with Cytomax. It has worked very well for me. The Carbo Pro works best if you mix it the night before and store it in the refrigerator.

As with anything, try it in training and see how it works for you.

I have use both SE and Perpetuem with great success. They are pretty close in composition and are both great for workouts/races > 2 hours or so. SE has a bland taste (some people hate it) that can be flavored by Hammer Gel. The Perpetuem has an “Orange Dreamcicle” taste that some people like and some people hate. I personally like the taste. Both can be mixed as a drink, or a more concentrated paste.

All Hammer products are complex-carb based without any simple sugars. This allows you to take in more calories and still be able to process it. You can also mix and match SE, Perpetuem, HEED and Hammer Gel as suits your taste. SE and Perpetuem are billed as the long distance fuels because of their protein content.

I switched to Perpetuem this year. I have tried many other products and they all upset my stomach. I have had no problems with Perpetuem.

I agree…Perpeteum is fantastic. Just used it for the first time on a 60 Mile ride in the foothills. No digestive problems.

Well…I am sure they are both great products, but I am a huge fan of Carbo Pro. This company is run by husband and wife, GR and Nancy. They are smart, nice, & willing to help spend time explaining how nutrition works with racing/training.

They have great products and the best customer service of your 3 choices.

is carbo pro any different than maltodextrin?

I personally can’t stand perpetuem, I had gone to all liquid for IM distance last year on carbo pro and mixed up gatorade or crank sports e fuel. It treated me right without any major issues.

i would need to look on the jug but I think I made 2000 cal bottle?. i just made up a few and put them at the special needs and was all set.

Hammer now has a non-flavored Perpetuem. Rumor has it that SE may go away in a year or so depending on how the neutral flavored P does.

Carbo Pro mixes easier and is slightly easier on the stomach for most people but it is a potion mixture for best results. P can stand on its own.

Try both and find out for yourself as it comes down to taste, preference, availability, mixture, etc…

I personally am a Hammer Nutrition person and find them to have good science and service.

BTW- I sell all this stuff including CarboPro.
