Carbo loading with whole wheat pasta

Will carbo loading work the same way with whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta?

Fiber content on whole-wheat pasta is higher and fiber content should be reduced the days before a race.

Doesn’t this vary some from person to person?

I can eat fiber right up to through the morning of the race without a problem.

On the other hand I have never faced a really long race in 85 degrees or anything.

I too am curious to hear the responses about fiber. It might make me willing to try some of the low fiber approaches. Dang, it is so counterintuitive to get rid of fiber when it is so good for you in all other aspects.

Fiber makes you poo-poo… fiber not good for mcoker days before race… mcocker might poo-poo during race… that not good for mcocker…

I think the key to carbo loading–at least pre-race–is to do so 2 night before, not the night before. 1. eating too much the night before a race is bad in my experience, 2. the effects of the carbs tend to be better realized if you load up 2 nights out (from my experience).

Yeah, good point. And hasn’t the whole carbo load thing gone by the way side anyway? Shouldn’t you just eat normally, especially what you eat the ngiht before a long workout. A balanced meal?

Pfitzinger says to do a high-carb diet the three days before a marathon, while only doing a warm-up run each day. This will have the same effect of adding something like up to 30% more glycogen to your reserves.
