Car hits cyclist riding freakin' ugly bike

So this story made the news because a celebrity (Anne Hathaway) was riding in the car that hit the cyclist, but the real story is the bike. I believe IMO that it’s the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen. The driver of the car was probably trying to do the world a favor by getting it off the road.

Aerospoke wheels finally stumbled across a group of people that will buy them.

obviously you are not aware that those are very trendy right now. I think a lot of kids tired of skateboards are not jumping into those types of bikes. Out here in the OC, especially around Newport beach, there are tons of kids riding those things, and like skateboarders, they are usually showing off in places where they can be seen.

He’s hoping for a nice insurance settlement which he can then parlay into one of the Copenhagen Wheels.

Yeah, I am not a fan of them at all. I can see bike messengers sawing off their handle bars to help squeeze through traffic without catching on cars/people/etc… But, when those wanna-be 80’s no-job PBR losers try and make their bike hip with the cards in the spokes, short bars and mustaches…I tend to do a shake of the head with a “come on buddy” inner (and sometimes outer) monologue. They are EVERYWHERE in philly.

Great Site

Bike Snob NYC has it covered in his own special way

hm, now how 'bout those wanna-be no shape triathletes that try to make their bike hip with super expensive carbon bling-bling, disc wheels and a powermeter while not even averaging 20 mph on race day; sporting their asics noosa shoes and always with a bike bottle at hand? you surely know one or two, don’t you?

i tend to do a shake of the head with a “get a life” inner monologue. they are EVERYWHERE on earth.

and i love that bike. it’s reduced to the max, a piece of art while still having a function. and one guy less polluting the environment with a big fat Tahoe, F250, RAM etc.

loosen up…

It also doesn’t offend me. Plus what do we really care if someone else sets up their bike not the way we would?

all that really bugs me is that the guy in the pic isnt wearing a helmet. lucky he didnt get seriously injured

“bike messengers sawing off their handle bars to help squeeze through traffic without catching”

Thank you for finally explaining the genesis of that fad to me.

Dude deserves to get hit (fortunately not really injured or killed, though) for those pedals. Other than that, I’ve got no beef.

I’ve got beef. He quite obviously stole those shoes from Clark Griswold’s cousin Eddie …

Thanks, I appreciate that
