I’ve had a fun time watching the mt bike pros take on the gravel pros! The app is great as is the the live streaming of each stage.
I’ve put my name in for the lottery for 2026. Now all I gotta do is get in and then find a partner
My friend Leah just did it! It seems like a super unique experience. Good luck!
I actually got into the Cape Epic 2026 but ended up declining the invitation. Too me, this is a dream race, but I know myself and how motivated I am (or not) to train during the winter. The cumulative distance of Cape Epic would require me to do an extraordinary amount of riding indoors, or outside in freezing weather (and I know I won’t do that)
that is a pity… never ridden the Epic, but grew up in SA, the riding is good…
myself, bought a Saris specifically to train for the Cape Cycle Tour in March next year, a mere 109km around the peninsula. Used to run those roads in the Two Oceans, can’t run anymore, thought I’d bike instead. Now SA has changed its visas so I have to either reapply for a SA passport, or formally renounce citizenship via a lengthy multistep process, not sure if I’ll get it done in time for next year…
Trust me, it was a very difficult decision. I closely followed Cape Epic, this year, and wanted to be there so bad. The daily stages looked incredible. Hoping to try to get into the Gravel Burn for 2026 or 2027. It’s in October and would be perfect for someone like me coming from the northern hemisphere (training wise)
