Yeah, it depends on your phone, the lighting and also how the object your trying to scan reflects light. You can get great results or awful ones.
Somebody got in touch by private message and might be able to provide measurements.
As for the folder: That’s a great idea! Plastic like that should be able to be shaped by a hairdryer once in position.

First i just cut out the basic shape in paper, then transferred it to the plastic sheet. Attached it with split pins in the mounting holes. Then made some strategic cuts at some corners.
Next up was using double sided tape (extra strong!!) to attach it to the armcups. Then to finish i used wide black 3M tape to even out the transition between cups and plastic sheet.

You don’t think that will be illegal under IM rules? It looks good but tbh it looks homemade. There’s not much clarity on the line between fairing and structure, but homemade stuff seems to be the target
That would indeed be illegal but morally 100% correct.
It’s silly that >>1000 USD custom solutions are legal. While many of them are tested, they’re definitely not as safe as OEM solutions.
The homemade 1-100 USD solution is having the lowest footprint and doesn’t impair any safety.
