Canyon CF SLX 8 Vs. QR V-PRi

I’m also considering Canyon vs QR vs Trek.
One thing I would say is that if having the internal ‘bladder’ is a big thing for you, I’d go with the QR. I only read bad things about the Canyon bladder (and Cadex). QR uses a solid bottle, not a bladder, much better.

The Cadex bladder works like blast if you some small DIY adaptions. Nothing like the Canyon bladder.

This looks pretty unsafe on how this TriRig aerobar/armpads are placed on the mountplate.
Very little hardware below it ti get enough support at this lever.

Four bolts and elbows and weight are directly on the plate, but ok…Maybe you have an odd relationship with perceived risk.

And nowhere near as unsafe as some of the hack jobs you see Pro’s running these days. From what I recall, those TriRig arm pads are quite thick and should provide a lot of rigidity.

Very robust and there is effectively no weight pushing down on the extension up in the forearm especially angled up a bit.

Wow, forward of the BB, the frame looks just like the Speedmax.

It just like your pads are mounted almost at the edge of the mountplate and at the back part of the extensions so little amount of hardware below that lever point. But it might be just the look.

Jeroen has a point. Side by side bolts with that kind of leverage on them is likely to be a risk, only M5s too. The robust extension may not be a good thing on that front - I’ve seen extra stiff brackets transfer too much load to the basebar connection.

The problem with mixing and matching aftermarket parts is that they’re not tested together, so we just don’t know. There may be no significant risk, or it could be marginal, or…

Maybe this is more clear, there is a row of 7 bolt holes front to back. The cups at the back are in solid contact covering the front 4. And I added a washer to the bolts on each side to really get purchase on the extension holes. The only way to fail would be to snap the bolts. Unless I do a handstand on the end of the extensions, that’s going to be difficult.

As long as you feel safe it is all good

That’s an absolutely beautiful bike, I just built one up online and was about to purchase it but wow… to get one in Canada with the current exchange rate is pricey! And then taxes and duty on top of that!! Nicest and most functional bike on the market in my opinion though.

Looks great

Did you buy the frameset from your local bike store and have them build it up as you wanted?

I got the frame from QR as part of our relationship with them through Team Zoot, which was incredibly generous of them, and then my LBS swapped over my Di2 from my VP-R and added the TriRig extensions I bought.
