So for an unknown amount of time now, I can’t fully straighten my right arm. It can probably go within about 5-10% of my left, but is noticeably less straight. There is no significant pain per se, but it feels ‘tight’ on the top-outside of the elbow (both in the tricep and forearm) when I try to straighten it. It feels kind of good when I stretch it by straightening it with my other arm, or laying on it straight, as if there are some inflamed tendons or something around there…
My chiro thinks it is over-tense tricep, possibly from riding in the aero position on the bike. It is bothering me more psychologically than physically at this point, since it doesn’t feel any weaker or cause me pain.
Anyway, should I dismiss it as tendinitis and take it easy until it goes away, or see a professional?
Some years ago I was hit by a car running and besides other bodily injuries my left elbow was torn open, at the ER the doc sorta fixed it up temporary, after I saw various orthopedic doctors who said they didn’t think I would be able to straighten out my arm from the elbow. So after I was recouping from the rest of my injuries I started out walking and carrying a 5lb weight even when I went back to work I would carry the weight around with me all day, levering it up and down and putting force onto the elbow joint where it wouldn’t straighten, after a while I moved up to a 10lb and then finally a 12lb weight after about 6 months it finally went straight but for a long time when I would swim it still had an arcing motion my wife could always pick out of a crowd in the swim. So maybe this might work for you but of course everyone is different but try it can’t lose much at this stage. Cheers LA Rob

Seems to me that an over tense triceps would keep you from fully bending the arm and aan over tense bicep would keep you from fully straightening the arm. I would see an ART Chiro or sports MD. David K

Tight Biceps. Right-handed? Right upper arm more developed and stronger than left? Could just be functional tightness. Try static prolonged stretches if the tightness bothers you.

Seriously, a question like this on a forum? You can’t make it up.
Just be glad you live in the here and now instead of in Germany in a certain period during the previous century, or you would have been in serious trouble.
