Can't find replacement bolts for my Profile Design T2+ Aerobars

Am looking to replace the heavily corroded bolts on my T2+ Profile Design Aerobars.

Downloaded the manufacturer .pdf for the aerobars, which has a nice labeled parts list, including bolts. Trouble is, I can’t find the actual bolts they use online! Am I searching incorrectly online?

Here are some of the many bolts used as listed:

  • M6 x 13 flat head BCP
  • M6x 18 flat head BCP
  • M6 x 38 flat head bcp
  • M6 x 18mm mushroom cap BCP
  • M6 x 15mm mushroom cap BCP

I was hoping to just order stainless steel replacements from a hardware store online, but I can’t seem to find any of these when I google them by ‘M6 x 13 bolt’. Are these custom parts that aren’t carried in a typical hardware store, or am I missing something here?

I would think you could find them in the metric section (located in the drawers) of Home depot/Lowes. If not, McMaster-Carr, but I’m not sure if they sell by the piece.

you might give “pro bolt” a try… they carry some pretty specialized bolts for bikes. Otherwise, you can get replacements directly from PD

I lost one of the barrel nuts from my PD Sonics. They weren’t on the online parts list but I called them and they sent one out for me.

They shouldn’t be too hard to find - my small local hardware store (Sign outside says “Do It Best”) carries them all in stainless. A little expensive (for bolts any way) at ~.75, and up, for each one. Cheap for triathlon parts though… Since I manufacture bike parts, (chain catchers), I get my metric SS bolts in small wholesale lots from these guys: http://www.fastener-express.com/
They’re fast, much cheaper than the hardware store and they take PayPal.

I actually looked at that site - I can’t find ANY of these bolts there! If you’ve got a second, maybe you could point me in the right direction on that website?

EDIT - doh - just found one of them. You’re right - they sell them in lots of 20, at around $9-$10 per lot. I’d be looking at about $80-100 to replace all my bolts - which is close to exceeding the cost of the aerobars entirely! I may have to check a local hardware store, but I’m not optimistic - seems like these bolts aren’t widely distributed (unlike the M5 bolts for water bottle cages, which are) . The M6 x 18mm size is a doozie - couldn’t find that one on the website as well.

I have a bunch of spare bolts that came with my wifes bars. I think they are something to do with her short ITU bar ends. What bolts do you need? Maybe I have some I can send to you.

Call PD. I had lost a part once. Ten minutes on the phone and they sent everything I needed, Plus more right to my house. No charge, even for shipping. Great interaction with the company.

Actually the call to PD is your best bet. Next would be the hardware store. However, if you have a dremel (or small die grinder) you can use a cutoff wheel and shorten to any length you need - just buy a lot of 10 or 20, of your longest length and make the shorter ones…
A note: On aero bars, stainless bolts are almost always required (for sure here on the Florida coast) You sweat a lot on those screws and it takes very little time for non-stainless to rust up solid.

I totally hear you on the stainless bit. I’m actually surprised they even sell these aerobars without stainless steel bolts. Makes a bike look fugly from the cockpit quick when it’s all rusted.
