I’m thinking of getting a cannondale slice carbon for my girlfriend. She is going to use it both in U.C.I. -TT and naturally triathlons. She rides a roadbike with 56 toptube with a 10 cm stem. Because her accident with her blade (cardriver rammed her from bicyclepath) am i not able to measure her old tt bike. She is 1m79.
Are there people with experience with the cannondale slice who can advise a bit about sizing…
I am thinking of a 56 but this could maybe be a bit long for UCI -tt because of the stupid saddle-setback rule, but cannondale advises roadbike 56, tt-bike also. Help is appreciated.
I only know what fits me as a moderate-angle TT rider. I ride a 54cm Cannondale road bike with a layback seatpost and 100mm stem, and went with a 54cm Cannondale Slice with a 76-77 degree position and a 90mm stem. It fits great. Last year I tried the ‘one size down’ rule–it was miserable. I’d recommend a 56 with a stem swap for TT vs. Tri.
I ride a 56cm Cannondale System Six and a 56cm Slice (which is basically a 54cm at 77 degrees), but would stop short of offering advice. If she’s 5’9" to 6’0", my guess is that she has legs to match. (i.e. longer than most guys her size). Makes me think SHE would need to size down…really depends upon torso/leg ratio.
You’re not getting a lot of feedback because the Cannondale has a very short reach for it’s stack, or alternately a very tall stack for it’s reach.
For example if you take a 56cm Cannondale Slice it has the reach of a 51cm cervelo p3c and the stack of a 58cm P3c.
I don’t doubt that it’s a well mad bikee, and possibly an aerodynamic bike but it isn’t what most on this forum recommend in regards to geometry but then again we’re triathletes first and foremost. I would take her bike shopping, have her get on a few and then go back and buy whatever she likes best.
If she has to run it UCI legal then I would go with the 56 cm Slice. You can run the seat in the most rearward position, run it right at the UCI limit. If you ride the Slice steep like I do, then you have to size up and use a negative rise stem and bars with low stack height to get an appropriate drop. For example I am riding 4cm in front of the bottom bracket and ride a 54cm Slice, If I was riding UCI legal I would ride the 51cm Slice.
I agree with my friend there Brian - go w/ the 56. I ride a 58 on all Cannondale frames, road and tri. She may have to go with a 9cm stem to make the seat set back requirements of the UCI, but that’s not an issue.
Bueller, Bueller? I ride a 54cm SystemSix and 56 TT, the opposite of what I thought would be the trend, but the larger size has been great. Gorgeous steed, she’ll love it. No doubt.
She decided to use her old litespeed for tt and tri and buy a new roadbike instead. A canyon ultimate cf btw , she was so enthousiastic about it i got myslf the same bike and i have to agree with her.great bike!!
I am kind of in the same boat. I have a kalibur M and I feel like I want more stack. I know the 56 slice gives that, but also has the reach similar of the kuota. I run a 9cm stem. I wonder if the 56 cannondale would give me what I am looking for-any suggestions. I am going to get fit on it next week hopefully. I love my kalibur, but feel like I am too low in the front (you don’t hear that too often). I want to be up a little higher without jacking up my aero bars or being in the wind.
I would only really consider it worth changing if you are on the edge with spacers under the stem and cant raise the bars further. If the bars are higher you are as much in the wind if its a taller headtube or an extra 1cm of spacers. Of course if you are just jonesing for a new bike and looking for a reason to justify it the the S.O. then it sounds like good logic!
