Local shop does not carry this bike so I cannot check it out there. I have to start narrowing the sizing choices down and would appreciate if those of you that are riding 2011 Slice 5 or same geometry Cannondale post your height just as a general guideline. I am looking at 51cm or 54cm. Thanks.
2010 Slice 5, but I think the moulds are identical.
I’m 5’ 11 1/2" (181cm). Not sure about my inseam, but 34" jeans seem to work fine. I ride a 56cm Slice. In hindsight a slightly smaller one (54cm) probably would have been good, since I can’t get my front quite as low as I would like it to be.
Thank you. The person in question is 168cm, about 5’5", but growing rapidly, long legs, wondering between 51cm or 54cm. If 54cm, than most likely will have to normalize reach for a season with 70mm stem, I am guessing as I think, not sure, 54cm comes with 90mm stem.
thanks for your response, just hoping maybe someone of similar height may chime in.

I am also 5’11 1/2". Also not sure about my inseam, but I wear 32" jeans. I ride a 56cm Slice and have never really been comfortable with my fit. With the geometry of the bike, I have been told that I am kind of in no man’s land between a 54 and a 56. Personally, I think the 56 would fit fine with a good fit. However, a good fitter may be able to fit me just as well on a 54. I really don’t know.

So you’ve got legs even shorter than I do. Which means a longer torso. You’re having the same problem that I have; due to your short legs your back doesn’t come up high enough, so you can’t get your front low enough to get a proper flat back. Have you tried one of those really steep stems? I’ve got a flat (-17 degree) stem now and that improved things, but you may need something even more aggressive and maybe longer.
if you can do subtraction, you can figure this out.
5’8" with 30" inseam. Riding a 2011 Slice 3, size 54. The 51 was okay for stack height, but the reach was a little tight.
I regretted posting that as soon as I hit enter. I would advise against slowtwitching on a lack of sleep.
However, right now the frame is cracked and I am riding a bike older than me, so I’ll figure it out if I ever get the replacement frame.
But, no matter what adjustments I made, it never felt quite right. I should have posted a fit video for you and the rest of the crew to rag me out.
5’ 7” with 30 inch leg, riding a 51 inch Slice. Fits me quite nice. Just had to play around with the T2 bars and slide them out a bit.
Thanks guys, this last one is the closest to my sons measurements. Would you all please criticize this thought. He is riding now but not that much, I anticipate that riding will seize here shortly for the season for him. he will grow more over the winter and spring, he is turning 13. He is coming off 2010 B16 size 50 where we just could not get his fit dialed due to growing and man, growing those legs, so being on the long/low bike was not that great to begin with.
My thought is this, he would probably fit wright now better on 51cm Slice 5, but with more riding to come in mid 2012, how much crime is it to buy 54cm, most likely, temporary normalize the reach with shorter stem and than as he starts back up more, add back the 90mm stem or which ever stem gets him his reach correct. Stack is no problem for him with his long legs.
B16 50cm stack 48.3 reach 39.1 HT length 130 stem 80mm
Slice 5 54 50.9 39.8 105 90mm
I would hate to buy the bike again and again…
I would ride a 54cm in the Slice at 5’6". The key thing to remember is reach. The reach of a 54 Slice is close to a 51cm Cervelo P2/3/4. The bike will have more stack. A lot will come down to body proportions, but the 51cm Slice is a pretty short bike.
Kevin
I ride a 51 Slice. 5’6.
37.1 cm reach is very short and I am afraid that he would be out of that very quick, before the next season starts.
Can you please give me a few numbers from your fit, saddle height, where about on the rail is it, saddle nose to aerobar pads length and a drop. I would appreciate it very much. thanks.
I am 5’10.5 size 31.5 inseam. I picked up a 54cm.
FIT LIKE A GLOVE.
I was also trying out the 56cm, but i felt way to “stretched out” so i opted for the 54cm.
