Anyone have any information on the new '09 Cannondale cyclocross selections? I’m looking at either the Cyclocross 5 or 6 as an off-road winter training bike, maybe a cyclocross race or two, and on-road foul weather/winter training bike.
I haven’t looked, have they changed a lot from '08? I rode one of the '08 frames a few times which seemed like a decent bike.
Any specific questions you’re looking to get answered? I also have a Caad9 road frame I ride all the time and love that; are the Caad9’s and 'cross frames made from the same aluminum?
I have no idea, and I know VERY little about cyclocross, and NOTHING about the changes in bikes. I’m just looking for an “in-betweener” for my tri and mtn bike, and it seems the cross bike would be perfect. Add to that the discount I would get at the LBS, sleek look of the flat black on the '09 model, and the ability to put road tires on it and ride that on cleaner streets, and I think I’d have the perfect road bike. Just looking for opinions on it, or if there’s a different model/brand I should be considering.
Good idea for the cross bike. Nice winter road bike, have fun doing some cross races, etc.
As with all bike, it is all about the budget. I’d find something with 105 for a good compromise between price/performance. The CAD 5 I think, Redline Conquest pro is nice, new Felt F15x. Or the old standby Kona Jake the Snake. The new Fuji pro is also nice. Trek seemed to increase the price on their X01 too much. Could score a sweet Ridley or Salsa cross frame and build one up yourself as well.
