Can you recommend any prescription tri sunglasses that can take a prescription of about 4.25 and a Base Curve of +3?
x2 for Rudy’s Sportmask. They have a great replacement/warranty deal as well…great folks.
Bought Smith Parallels and already regretting the purchase for this very reason…looking a the pivlocks now.
I wasn’t a fan of the sportsmask by Rudy project. The arms dug into my ears. I have been using the Oakley James Stewart Conduct sunglasses for the last 2 years. They have no frame and worked well for me.
It looks like the Mframe/Radar style Oakleys won’t work in that RX, but the Jawbone does, and it is a pretty big lens which shouldn’t interfere with vision too much.

Thank you. Is the base curve a maximum of +3? Unfortunately, my eyes are quite sensitive to base curve, so I can’t use sports glasses with a large wrap (which typically have a base curve of +7 or so).
i am going into my second pair of oakley jawbones.
they are the most singularly awesome sunglasses i have ever owned.
my two cents.
Not sure on the base curves, you can call the operators on our site and they can probably get you that info. I’ll toss them an email and see if they can get me a list.
Ok for rx sunglass frames, the best you can do is a base curve of 4, some examples that should work for your rx:
Blender 2.0 and 4.0
chain 6.0
chisel 2.0 and 4.0
chop top 2.0 and 4.0
gasket
hollopoint 2.0 and 4.0
rx squared wire
soft top 6.0
spoke 2.0 and 4.0
split thread
softtail
sweeper
thread 2.0 and 4.0
why 4
wiretap
yardstick 8.0
Another option is to get an eyeglass frame that will take a base curve of 3, and order a sunglass lens for it.
I’m always going to recommend Oakley.
Their dedication to quality control, optical performance, protection and sport-specific function has put them at the top of the sports-optic category that they invented.
Expensive? Yup. Trendy? Check. Fashion icon? Roger that.
Valid technology though. People will spend $150+ on running shoes but then wear $29 sunglasses. When your eyesight is threatened you realize how important your visual interaction with the world is. It’s worth protecting.
How do the Half- Jackets work in the aero postion? I was also wondering if it’s worth it to pay extra for the polarized lenses?
I just finished trying most of the Oakleys to find the right ones for me in the aero position. I tried the Radar, the Jawbone, the Split Jacket, Flak Jacket, and the Half Jacket. That is also the order of preference for riding in the aero position. The Radar is obviously the best, but the Jawbone was almost as good because for me (I doubt everyone’s face is the same) they top of the frame sits above my brow and so it really isn’t that much of a problem. The split, flak, and half jacket didn’t work as well, and with the half jacket I was staring at the frame the entire time and they didn’t stay on my face. The split fit well, but the vented lenses are aftermarket, and they were always fogging up on me.
So, I chose the Jawbone for looks + performance. The Radar would have worked as well, but I just didn’t like the look of them.
I think Oakley Flak Jacket with polarized lenses. They are three types so are a basic value more multipurpose than deep blue lenses. High enough, got mine amount value of the states.
Can’t speak to the Oakleys but I use Tifosi. I have three of them: transparent, polarized and photochromatic. No frames on the top of the lenses.
I like them. Had them for 3 to 6 years depending on the pair. Once the photochromatic lens pigments came off and I exchanged them under warranty.
But for my next pair(s) I will first look into the cheaper options mentioned by others.
Seeing Tom D and Jack M got my attention since they don’t post anymore.

Oakley Jawbones are what I have and I’m a huge fan of them - feel like the Radars are probably comparable, but I like the Jawbones personally
