Can we save $3 from our USAT fees?

Triathlon Times is simply worthless to me. After 10 minutes of paging through the SKINNY mag, I didn’t learn anything except that PowerCranks now have a cut-out (back cover). Congrats to Frank.

The mag info states that $3 of the $30 annual fee goes to Triathlon Times. Slowman…any chance of us petitioning to demantle this? Or…split the cost by 50% and have info for view online? Actually…50% is generous, most the content is already on the website.

Or…how about the $3 (per member) to go towards a Pro National race series. Lots of prize money, points and excitement. Non drafting of course. Age groupers compete also (after the pro’s).

or how about we give it to the poor collegiate teams usat neglects.

No, no…we can’t simply re-distribute the money, we need to return it! Although, I could almost buy the poor college student excuse.

I did miss one other thing I learned…that Heather Gollnick was the Top US Women’s finisher. I totally overlooked that. Way to go Heather!

Maybe USAT could let us members vote on how our money should be spent such as the newsletter
or supporting our future olympians in DRAFT LEGAL events.

I’d be interested where you obtained that bit of information.

Thanks,

Ironjack

Yeah. I’d vote for maintaining production of the mag, but skip the printing and mailing costs and re-distribute the funds to the website and post it there. There’s a lot that could be done with that site.

new petition!

It is amazing how thrifty the “magazine” is – the last few issues have only had pictures from the US Nationals.

Doesn’t one get a discount from USAT for being a member of a Tri Club? If this is the case… how do you register a tri club? Could we become the “Peaceful Tribe Tri Club” and all get a discout?

Far as I am concerned USAT is a waste of money period. For the number of races I do I will pay the day rate and still save…and that magazine, was not even good to lite the fire pit with cause the paper was so thin.

its pretty easy. you have to go the USAT website, print a form, submit club contact info, and a roster. the fee is $8 to renew (maybe 10 for a new club, not sure). everyone on the roster can get $3 club discount.

Hey…we’re on to something here.

Slowman - can you (we) start a ST tri club?

Did you catch the picture on the 2nd page where that man is getting outsprinted by the female?

I thought that was a good pic. (Is that woman in the background sucking on a lollipop?)
