I didn’t read them all but most were critical of Sweeney/the ad, and mentioned her Republican status and that trump thought the ad was great, which makes her automatically a Nazi, apparently.
Yes. She seems to get a lot more air time than she deserves across multiple media outlets (not just Newscorp). Kind of sick of seeing her opinions. One can argue that the intent is to fan flames but her followers are often feeding off her outrage in the comments.
I didn’t intentionally try and portray anything left of centre as being onboard with her views. Perhaps I should have referred to her as far-left.
I just stumbled across it and thought FFS. I like to think I’m equally as critical as stories from the other side. I certainly don’t support your current version of reds.
This is the problem with media and the internet. Every degenerate loony tune POS that in the past would have been nothing more than a crazy crackpot known by a handful of people are now given a platform to millions of people with a implied validity to the crap they say and do…
I had no awareness of her before this thread, so I googled images of her. I’d say she is a two-face more so than a butterface. There are some pictures where she looks good but also a lot where she doesn’t. She can be a 9 or a 4 from picture to picture.
Do you ever stop and wonder how you ended up where you are today - in terms of leadership?
Given how much you post in the other forum about said leadership, perhaps think about just how ‘insignificant’ these stories are, and the consequences of leaving them unchecked.
I didn’t even know who Sweeney was until local right of center radio station host mentioned the thing. I think the adds are pretty fringe are they anywhere else but on the internet? I think the left in Canada is pretty hopeless I have given up on CBC. However this seems definitely a right wing over reaction to fringe left wing upset.
I didn’t and still don’t know who this podcaster is, but this sentence is the canary in the coal mine:
She described the campaign as ‘not a good look’ and suggested it highlighted issues of white supremacy in positions of power.
In the age of click bait rage farming, when the copy reads as non-committal as ‘not a good look’ or ‘raises eyebrows’ you know that what’s about to follow is an absolve nothing burrito. The only reason it’s a story is because Sweeney is the current It Girl and racism always gets clicks.
There was time where somebody regarded as conservative might say an ad using sex to sell genes as in your face as this one would be bad. Objectifying women. But now objecting to such ads is, “Why democrats are losing” The reasons for objecting are different but the landscape has shifted.
And we, speaking as current culture we, fell for it.
Ad executives and Brand executives are not oblivious. This should be a nothing. But, predictably trigger some wackadoo lefty, hope for Defcon 5 on the response, and most successful campaign in AE history.
