Can Rapp make up this deficit?

I wasn’t expecting Jordan to be in the first group out of the water or anything but expected him to come out with Kienle and Raelert around 55:XX. 59:07 may have put him in an insurmountable hole. Interested to see how he tackles the bike ride now.

Yes. No. Maybe?

I bet he’ll hammer the first half to make it up…hopefully doesn’t burn too many matches though.

From imlive: Some of the impressive moves so far are from Kienle and Rapp, who have managed to ride themselves to the main group.

hammer the first part is stupid and only stupid athlete with no overall contention do that.

jordan will ride the watts…we wont hear much until the last 3rd of the ride… when the front group drop usually 40-50 watts from there current pace right now.

it s a patience game…no point in rushing to the front and running a 4h marathon

I saw that too, but did they ditch Andreas?

He will be in the big pack. Everything comes down to the run for him because he shouldn’t be too far back on the bike.

Rappster can not make up 9 minutes in a few miles.

Is his swim time correct?

Swim time is correct, neither he nor Kienle are in the main pack. You can click on the athlete tracker and see they’re still minutes behind.

Indeed. Then the race is over for Rappster before it started…

Sadly.

Quite a long day and anything can happen.

from IMlive: “Jordan Rapp is finally making some headway in the men’s race - we just got a report that he was flying as he went through 30 miles and appears to be on his way to get into the mix.”

Yowser are you new to IM’s? It’s a 8+ hour race this thing is so far from over. I would be shocked if Rapp wasn’t in the lead pack by the end of the bike. Remember…Jordan’s modus operandi has been to ride conservatively until 90ish and then go MC Hammer the last 22 or so…

sure it is

at mile 30: 9’34sec back, so he is losing time after the swim.

I know the race is long but with such a deficit and such a strong field…

Rapp has always been more of a negative split guy, he’s smart, patient, he will make up time on the back half and most I bet will be the last 1/4 of the bike. Can he make up 9 minutes, for the win, I hope so, odds are not in his favor, I still think he’ll be top 10.
