Can I use an R8100 (12-spd) Crankset in an 11-spd environment?

Specifically, will a Shimano Ultegra R8100 12-speed crankset work (seamlessly) in a Shimano Ultegra R8000 11-speed setup?

Will I need to change the chain?

I believe you should be fine if the crankset is all you are changing, chain should be fine as well but I’d consider replacing it and the cassette (11 speed) unless they are pretty new.
