I just rediscovered an old friend and I’ve found out she drinks crappy beer (and god forbid enjoys it!). It is my wish to repay an old debt by sending a couple of good beers. Any problems sending bottled beers through the mail? They’ll only be going about 50 miles or so.

Yes, I believe you can. I’ve recived bottles of liquor as gifts. I can’t remember if they came from UPS or US Mail though.

The safest bet is to buy from a company that ships directly to her, like a beer of the month, or a specialty store online. That way you know they have the legal aspect taken care of, and the beer will get there in good shape, no broken bottles, etc…

I did that for a friend in TX. I packed up a 6 of various MidLantic beers (Dogfish Head, Victory, Flying Fish, Stoudts), a copy of “Ale Street News” and an issue of “Weird NJ”. I bubblewrapped the hell out of them - (like half an inch per bottle), packed them into a Coors Light 30-pack box (added a nice effect), butcher-paper wrapped the outside, packing taped it securely and USPS’ed it to Texas.
Note: When the nice USPS girl asks if there’s any liquid inside … just say no.
Once mailed a case of Guiness to an Irish friend IN BOLIVIA. He was having serious withdrawl issues so I considered it a medical emergency. Wasn’t sure if it would arrive intact but it made it. Sent it via Canada Post.
