Can I not just buy a DVD of the '89 Ironman

I’ve seen the threads for the Allen/Scott epic - for the love of god the downloading uploading game drives me nuts - is there no where I can just go to buy that kind of stuff - does n’t ironman sell this kind of stuff - surely to god they’d make a killing - they market everything else so well.

Please help me stop the madness - where can I just buy one!!!

I agree, I just downloaded the file, but would have happily paid for a DVD, if it were available. Ironmanlive only has them back to 1991, and I haven’t seen it for sale anywhere else (except occasional burned copies on ebay, but not often). It may be that NBC never archived this footage until 1991, but if they did, they would definitely do well to start making more DVDs, since I think there would be demand.

In 1989 it was on ABC’s Wide World of Sports
.

If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find the file of the 1989 race?

It took about 22.5 hours for me to download it! I think it’ll be worth it though :)!

Out of curiosity, has anyone burned this to a DVD and watched on a regular tv? Is the quality any good?

Chris

Thanks for the info. I guess it will start downloading once you get online, no rush. I’m just glad to download it, much less a burned copy. If any one should get one, let me know. That person will be envived by all on this forum. Thanks again…

Burns well to DVD for viewing. I was the one that initially seeded it. I copied it from VHS which had been in storage for 16 years! Surprisingly, the quality is pretty good IMO.

I’m using Tomato Torrent for Mac…and I keep getting this message…I’ve never actually gotten a torrent to download…what gives, torrent experts?

“Problem connecting to tracker - , (at Thu Jan 19 '06 @ 08:16:47 PM)”

So I clicked on your link, clicked on Doqwnload Torrent, it says it says in like a second, then it won’t play on anything I have? Can you help?

you need to download a peer to peer progam. I started the download, with high speed cable after 2hrs it was still downloading. I gave up. I have the race on tape somewhere, I’ll have to find it.

This is great… what other torrents of triathlon or cycling clips do people have?

Ok, I dont know the copyright laws on this one but with so many people having issues with the torrent why not just host it for straight download, surely cant take longer than the 22 hrs to torrent it?

Oh ya count me as one that could not get this torrent to work.

When this was seeded a few months ago I couldn’t get it to work with my standard torrent program - I could only get it to work with bitcomet (bitcomet.com) FWIW. Not sure why.

I have been dowloading for 12 hours and got like 65 MB of the 900MB file. Little ridiculous… I have been getting like 1 or 2kb/s and I have a high speed cable modem. Anybody else have this issue? is there some settings I need to change?

The download speed will increase if more people seed the file. I’m guessing only 1-2 people are seeding at the moment (and I’m one of them). Just be patient and just let it run for a few days - that would be my suggestion.

Thanks… I will just leave it runnig then and hopefully more people seed it…it did looke like there was only 1 seed from what I could tell, so you may be the only one with it seeded right now (and I thank you for that) just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong as this is my first exposure with torrents.

Thanks again,

Matt

Arwe you downloading off of bit torrent or on you on bit comet? I’ve tried the bit torrent but nothing has happened so far… Thanks

How do you seed? I downloaded it using Bitcomet and it appears as though it’s working although the picture is a little jumpy and lags the sound. Would this be just due to computer speed (I think this is an old 833mhz PIII)?

I am downloading with Azureus… I tried with Bittorrent and got nothing. Also I’m not quite sure how to “seed” a file. Can anyone else chime in on how to seed a file? Really I have no idea what I am doing with this torrent thing… I am just happy that I am getting some sort of download happening.

Yes, an 833mhz is pretty slow. I guess you would need over 1ghz for it to run smoothly. If you want to seed in bitcomet (and have downloaded the file in bitcomet) just leave the program open.
