Camcorders

So, our POS camcorder kicked the bucket after a little over a year (convenient isn’t it?) and with our kids first X-mas coming up we need another one.

Anyways, I don’t know anything about these and was wondering if I could get some advice.

I like the idea of the hard drive ones, basically being able to erase and record over mistakes. Can you do that with the DVD-RW’s? Also, I like the idea of never having to mess around with making sure I have tapes or discs.

What should I be looking for in a camcorder? And NO I don’t need to be able to shoot in low light for all of you pervs out there!

Somebody had this question a few weeks ago. You might want to search the archives.

It was a Canon wasn’t it?

I saw that one, but I’m am most definately not in the market for a hi-def model.

All, I need is something rock solid that will record well indoors and out.

And it wasn’t a Canon. I have a Canon digital camera that is like 3 years old and I love that thing.

Right now I’m focusing in on the Sony or JVC hard drive camcorders.

You won’t go wrong with a Sony. I’ve had one for a few years; replacement for the Canon that just stopped working one day. I’ve heard some bad things about JVC but don’t have any firsthand knowledge. Have you read reveiws on CNET? I’ve found them to be extremely useful.
