Calf cramps after T2?

I’ve tried taking Endurolytes, proper hydration and stretching as much as possible on the bike as I come into T2 but my calves still want to cramp at the start of the run. Is there anything else I can do?

They get better but that first mile is a killer.

nobody?

More brick training. More running mileage. Less of all these powders and milkshakes and more real wholesome food.

Do you do lots of bricks and transition runs?

I had the same problem and solved it by adding a run to the end of nearly every ride. Once a week or so I would come into “transition” and put my shoes on and run at race pace. Otherwise I would cool down on the bike, leisurly put my shoes on and run. You have to train your muscles to accept the transition.

Four hard bricks so far this Spring. It’s happened to some degree on all of them.

Four?
Have a short run, after every long ride. Even if it is 10 minutes.

you can also shift to an easier gear and spin “easy” into T2. drop your heels and stretch while coasting.

I agree with Pluto, try short transition runs after most of your rides and see if that helps…
