Calculating CDA

Quite new to the TT bike and this is my first season on it. I have done a few TTs and a couple of triathlons now on the bike.

What is the best/easiest/most accurate method to calculate my CDA in these events?

I have been making small adjustments as I go to improve comfort and what i feel would help aerodynamically but would like to see the data if possible.

Any other advice for a new TT bike rider is also welcome.

Thanks.

MyWindSock will give you “ok” estimates based on a race file. Good place to start

The Playtpus thread will show you how to aero test yourself. It is not for everyone, but if you have the time and patience you will probably learn a lot. This is how I started.

There are devices that can help you. They are not perfect.

@E_DUB was nice enough to film this just before Unbound

The process is illustrated here

Not sure about best or most accurate but I remember BestBikeSplit being pretty easy to estimate CDA from a fit file.

Thanks for the responses. That Platypus thread is great.

I put the file from my race in sunday into MyWindsock and it said my CDA is 0.299 which i believe is terrible?

On the up side, lots of room for improvement.

A LOT of people start up there the first time they test. A LOT.

Yes i know its a process and happy to be patient.

For context, i averaged 229w normalised and 20.8mph for the 25 miles.
