Some of these ladies spend a lot on their clothes considering their salaries.
Edit - figured i’d leave this up here. Obviously CC makes a lot. On the right is Sophie, I think, who makes ~$100-$150K, which is a fair amount of money for someone in her 20’s, but the WNBA is a pretty short career compared to, say, being a lawyer.
Anyway, I think this is pretty consistent across all sports. It’s just something I observe as an old guy with regard to young people’s finances.
Hmmmmm…the conspiracy theorist in me wants to say that that was planned, but it probably wasn’t.
Having said that, it would send a message to the WNBA if she keeps sitting out due to injuries.
I believe that a lot of the clothes are given or loaned to these athletes.
I think the league would do well to protect her.
I’ve never watched a WNBA game, and have only seen her highlights on my Fb feed. This extremely myopic view appears to show that she’s getting hammered nightly by frustrated opponents that will have the league, and their careers diminished if the thuggery continues. Although she appears to be reacting by fighting back, Clark doesn’t seem to be intimidated by it. Either with a drive-and-dish, or roping a bomb from another area code, opponents had better defend with increased skills, or dust off their resume and prepare for the inevitable job at Target.
I’m guessing Sophie (blonde in photo) is working on some nice endorsement deals as her profile rises. She’s the one who committed the flagrant foul after her teammate (Clark) was mugged.
Good business decision I would say.

That’s the key statistic but so far the old guard of women’s basketball in the US seems to not grasp that i.e. Olympics snub and this bullshit. If Clark retired tomorrow the WNBA would return to being a “Title IX” sideshow.
I do not understand why there’s a large percentage of WNBA players and coaches that do not seem to grasp the reality that Caitlin Clark is the literal messiah of women’s basketball. Petty jealously is the obvious only answer to that.
She’s a transcendent athlete that women’s hoops has never seen. She’s kind of like Magic, Bird, and Jordan all rolled up into one person from an on the court and off the court perspective. She’s a fucking goldmine.
The rise in popularity, notoriety, commercials, private jets, new contracts, etc. is almost entirely because of her. Anyone that thinks otherwise is naive and ignorant. The other women in the league that don’t see that she’s the Golden Goose are frankly dumb as shit.
