Caitlin Clark Thread?

Players should ne paid in stock, which is currently negative valued, up to them to make it have value. Silly decisions too, like Reese sitting in $8k a month apartment on $75k salary. Were the players in such apartments in the early stages of NBA ?

If you want to hate on them that’s fine but I believe you are missing the point.

If I’m not mistaken Reese makes her bank off the court.

She’s got a multi-year deal with Reebok, as well as a bunch of other endorsement deals.

Her quote when she was first called out for her $96k per year rent was, “the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all.”

Whoa whoa. I feel insulted. We are WAY cooler than WNBA players!

What’s the point? Their skill levels are just deplorable, it’s got nothing to do with them being female, it’s just a fact. That the skill level is still so poor for a exhibition game where they are ‘having fun’ with no pressure is even more telling.

And this is why I love triathlon-the women are absolutely phenomenal. I’ll happily watch women only racing and be in awe of their incredible skill level and fitness.

And then turn the channel over to the WNBA to watch a heap of delusional entitled wannabes play at a 10 year old boy level… No thanks. Gender has no excuse for not meeting even the most basic standards of the game.

I’m not debating the skills or lack of skills in the WNBA. My point is that anybody can stitch together a video to push competence or incompetence, and if that’s the only thing you’ve seen of that sport then you might walk away with a certain impression.

For example…

  1. My dog can grab a bottle better than this, and he doesn’t have a thumb.
    TikTok - Make Your Day
    TikTok - Make Your Day

  2. Sperm helmet, check. $10k bike, check. Handling skills, priceless.
    TikTok - Make Your Day

  3. I’ve seen better male to female transitions.
    Savanah Gibbs on Instagram: "This transition hurts my ego even a year later 😂💀 #olympicgames #olympics #olympictriathlon #swimbikerun #tri #triathlon #triathlete #cyclinglifestyle #cycling #triathlonlifestyle #ironmantri #triathlontraining #triathlonfail #fail #funnyvideos #triathlonusa #cycling #cyclingvideos"

Which would be fair enough if it was a cherry picked isolated example. But we both know that isn’t the case and the WNBA as a whole is just a terrible standard week in week out. The Allstars are generally considered the best of the best yeah?

Or are you actually arguing with me that the footage is not a true reflection of the standard of play?

It’s not. It’s cherry picking. Just like this.

Trolling or delusional…?

I guess it’s just a shame then that they had an off weekend at the Allstars game? Because airballs and bricks aren’t a regular occurrence? Hell Angel has brought out a clothing line based on the amount of continued missed layups she makes…

Delusional is watching a cherry picked clip and declaring that it’s a regular occurrence, or terrible standard week in and week out. Something tells me that you haven’t watched many games, if at all.

You are a great example of everything that is wrong with chat forums. Take an objectively true statement and then waste hours arguing against it. Sure the league has has outliers and Clarke is a great example, but to argue the WNBA is a high standard is laughable.

Have fun and jog along now arguing with someone how water isn’t wet.

How do you measure objectively true? Because of a cherry clipped All Star video? Again I ask, have you watched many games, or at all?

My argument has never been that the WNBA is a high standard, it’s that a cherry picked video can influence people a certain direction.

I don’t jog anymore, not since the T3 incident.

You are arguing just for the sake of arguing. As I said, if the video was an isolated exception of a ‘bad day’ then yes you could argue cherry picked. But anyone who has seen the regular games would know this IS the standard. The fact that it is replicated by the cream of the crop on their day to shine further cements this. The standard is woeful.

It would appear it is you who hasn’t watched a game, are a troll, or just arguing for the sake of it. Limp along now you have wasted enough time. And people wonder why chat forums are dying…

While I have not watched the all star game, your description of the level of athleticism is not remotely close.

I coached boys high school basketball. A pro level WNBA team is going to be better than most boys high school varsity teams EXCEPT they’ll do it being a little slower, a little smaller, and with less jumping ability. So ultimately, they would probably lose.

But when you are looking at passing and outside shooting, your WNBA all stars are better players. In fact, their 3 Point FG% is pretty close to the NBA.

Now having said that, that may still not be enough for you to watch them, but you should at least be accurate about it.

Great, when you can’t support your position go ahead and be dismissive, if not dickish. And no, I didn’t watch a cherry picked video to come up with that.

Again, have you watched a game to form your opinion? Please lie and say yes so we can get this mercy killing over with.

And no, chat forums are not dying unless you have a cherry picked video showing that it’s dying.

With the exception of seeing two players on Indiana, I would probably have more fun tailgating at the VFW watching you brain dudes in chainmail like the Cable Guy at Medieval Times.

I went to the women’s final four in Cleveland a couple years back. I was never much of a women’s bball fan, but they can play. Saying they can’t is just wrong. Are they as athletic and talented as the men, no, but that doesn’t take anything away from their skills.

It was a much, much better display of athletic ability than I had expected to see. It’s not air balls and bricks. It’s better basketball, in the technical sense, than the NBA. The NBA has been watered down so much, it barely resembles team basketball any more.

Looping back on this, I remember names like Becky Hammon (sp?) and others would play in other leagues during off seasons. Were those other leagues at the top of the game’s pay scale, and provided benefits? What’s that business model that made that possible? I can’t believe it would be sufficiently driven by fan interest.

Whatever leagues can pay the most is where the talent and quality go to. Soccer is a great example.

The other overseas leagues can definitely pay better especially for top players. Leagues in Russia and China typically don’t seem to have a salary cap, and they pay well. Hammon played in Russia,…went so far as to gain Russian citizenship. Britney Griner wasn’t over there for nothing, she was getting paid. Reports are that her salary there was $1million as opposed to being capped at $227k.
