Can anyone give me a description of the bike course (international distance)? Is an elevation profile available anywhere?
you will have mostly flats, false flats, and gentle rollers. there might be one climb called The Beast.
The Beast is steep, not sure what % of incline though. it isn’t terribly long, maybe 1/2 mile. i’ve seen men walk it, but i don’t think it’s that bad…the secret is just spin up and save energy to ride strong out of the climb. (i guess that’s true for any climb though)
you’ll finish up the route on a long, gradual uphill (which is always fast, maybe from tailwind), and then cruise downhill into transition.
overall, this is a fast bike course! and beautiful to boot.
No Beast this year on the course - it was a pretty nasty hill for a triathlon. In fact, I just rode up it 2 weeks ago with kittycat and spot ![]()
Bike course is very nice. Very smooth roads, rolling hills that you won’t need your small ring at all for. A 11-23 rear will suffice with a std 53 front crank. Water was a little warm, but should “just” be wetsuit legal
Thanks for the prompt feedback everyone! See you at the races!
Check out the website for the Great Buckeye Challenge. The bike course is very similar.

See you there.
WHAT!?
No Beast? That made the course.
