anyone have anything to say. trying to make a decision on a set of lightweight carbon wheels. need them for road racing and hilly triathlons and TT’s. In wisconsin we get some strong winds, will a 58mm rim, i.e. 404’s, be too much in a road race situation, or would one be better of with a 38mm like 303’s or fsa’s. what’s the difference between the two as far as aero like in a break?
FSA says availablity on the RD-800s is “Spring”, and I don’t really like the tone of their “Spring”, it sounds more like “July” to my ear. Price is TBD. They should be cool, whenever they show up.
For mid-deep rim wheels, I really like X-Treme Matrix, which are 45mm rims. The rim construction allows much higher spoke tension than Zipp rims, which makes the wheel more responsive, at least under my increasingly chunky ass.
