WTF is up with all the spam advertising in the past few weeks? And the spammers are getting smarter ‘bots’ - the tread titles are actually starting to be tangentialy relevant to Triathlon / sports.
Maybe Slowman could add a ‘kill the spam’ button so that if more than 5 of the first 20 readers press it the thread is moved to a junk folder?

yes, there has been a lot of attempts to spam on the forum. we’ve just reached a certain size, i guess. but i think you’re overblowing the scope of the problem. one, maybe two spams a day makes it through our filters. we’ve aggressively targeted ISPs that allow spammers to use their services, and continue to do so on a daily basis. we’ve re-engineered the way private messaging works so this is an unlikely vehicle for spammers in the future. i just wish my POP mail account was as aggressively policed for spam.

It looks like you’re having mail delivered direct to the Slowtwitch mail server. You should look at some of the hosted solutions (Forefront Online Protection for Exchange, Postini, MessageLabs, etc). We use Forefront (which is not Exchange specific) at my work based upon my choice (I’m the security admin), and we basically don’t even think about spam.
Perhaps the add should read buy fake Viagra from an impotent Nigerian prince?
