and then click ‘start lists’.
Here’s a ‘all levels’ events list, with a ‘start list’ button for each one.
lindeman does not get a start as she is only 7 th or 8th German in the ranking and has to work her way up via world cups first.
Mansson, vermeylan, and tapia are also in the mix.
I have mixed feelings with fanny szalai being on the start list she is doing her first world tri senior race at Lanzarote world cup, and to hurry a bit slower would be slightly better in my mind . she obviously has the level but when we look at Wollongong where she choked a bit under the pressure to win, I think it would not hurt to give her a bit more time like 3 or 4 World Cup races first. just my 2 cents, and I get it she has a legit chance to get to LA at the same time, in my mind, it would be better to focus on 32 and 36
You probably have better intuitions about athlete development, but isn’t Szalai the type that overachieves when she doesn’t have to podium? If the pressure got to her in Wollongong junior world champs, isn’t WTCS exactly the opposite type of a situation?
thats a totally fair point, at the same time lets assume she does do quite ok that will mount the pressure going forward and World Cup is still a good level for her for a few races.( and I would also assume will give her more points atm like in china I guess she would have a good chance for a top 10)
From the Waiting List:
and in the women’s list I see both Lindemann and GTB at #6 and #5.
But both/either will only get a slot if one Brit or two Germans on the start list drop out.
that would be interesting if the current oly champ would not be able to get a start, anyway lets wait till Monday
I’m guessing the race gets canceled. Boo.
Difficult to see any other outcome (cancellation of WTCS Abu Dhabi for the second time in 3 years) to the “not a war” “major combat operation” (see also “Special Military Operation” in Europe). T100 Dubai and Road to Qatar . . . .
Venue = Hudayriyat Island
ADAB is 20 miles away.
Yeah, I was going to take the subject of events in the Middle East to this thread as well… hopefully it won’t evolve in a way that gets threads locked.
Abu Dhabi looking very shaky at the moment.
Not just the race locations themselves, but global air traffic is a mess right now. Even if Abu Dhabi gets cancelled as it should, the next few races would be logistically full of travel chokepoints.
Don’t think so. Uzbekistan flight routes run over Azerbaijan and Turkey and same goes for Europe to Japan.
| Date | Type | Event | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| 27-Mar | WTCS | WTCS Abu Dhabi | UAE |
| 25-Apr | WTCS | WTCS Samarkand | UZB |
| 16-May | WTCS | WTCS Yokohama | JPN |
did thailand ultra hack your account ?
that’s the third year she is with canyon, I am not quite sure what you mean with that pic?
But at what cost? Looking at flights from Asia to London by a factor of 5 in some cases with far more limited airline options. Add the cost of transporting bikes, federations with lots of athletes would have to make cuts.
this is not bad for world series races the waiting list can now be viewed straight from the start list page ( should be instant now ).
ps waiting list is a bit messed up and not correct but its a start lol
I wonder what is the decision timeline is for this race to go ahead? The UAE authorities will have the final say and could pull the plug with <48 hours to go (see 2024). Have World Tri the flexibility and ‘strength’ to arrange a contingency venue? Do they ever? I suspect that the $$ of trying that would deter them, both planning and decision. Once the PTO take charge next year will they be able to do better?
But well done on the start list - not many missing (Knibb, Derron, GTB (wl), Lindemann (wl), Wilde, Yee (wl), Le Corre). Have to keep the wheels rolling, even if the road looks like a cul-de-sac.
Iran dos not have the ability to attack or engage Israel and the US directly, their only strategy is to attack US Allies and, I hate the term, but softer targets.
it would be improper to hold this race. Safety cannot be assured.
they have never changed at short notice and I would say they have the best schedule ever for 2026 its the first time that they have a race in uk ,germany, france ,spain and Italy in one year (the top 5 key markets in europe ) plus china and japan only usa is really missing.
personally I do not think Pto ( I hate to write that name) will be able to change at short notice as the money for those races is too big and lets be honest I would be suprised if pto get the planned schedule of the ground in year one. but again its very rare that a planned world series race did not happen.
I would assume they will wait for 10 days and then cancel the race after Lanzarote World Cup
Hell I wonder how many federations are already going to pass on the race irregardless of when they decide to cancel it. With as many races this year, taking a pass isn’t really that big of a deal anyways right? I haven’t looked at the race number threshold this year, but I’m guessing it’s probaly ~5 or 6, so you can miss what nearly half the races. This would be an easy pass at this point for many of the big feds I would imagine (like of course the race is going to get cancelled…right and do we want athletes in that region with what’s going on…not wanting to get politically mind you).
yes 5 plus grand final in theory you could do the world series without leaving europe once ….
the bigger question is what will happen with the pesky relay, where will that move now
