Buc-ee's

Was there ever a question? Did you honestly think Windy and Buc-ees was going to mesh well?

Did you try any of the food?

I more meant that you have no clue - nor care - about the rest of society. You stay in your bubble, and could give two shits about anyone else.

Big world out there - you shouldn’t avoid it (nor be scared of it). Would be best if you at least made an effort to understand it, because you never have. At least, your posting history says you never have.

I used the article Rick posted as a guide

Brisket sandwich wasn’t bad but was overpriced
Brisket Taco even more overpriced
Banana Pudding good Southern staple
Beaver nuggets interesting sweet treat
Bag of their house brand chips fine
Jerky was overpriced garbage

I neither fear or avoid it but there are parts I just don’t like

I love a road trip…. But rest areas, including, the wawas, sheetzs, bucees (I assume), and the state run ones, are not places to linger or expect fine dining. More get in, do your business, move on.

It might be a representative cross section of the US population, which is worrisome if so.

What a sad existence. You just experienced the pinnacle of living and didn’t appreciate it. Let me guess, you go to the Grand Canyon and complain about the fence rail. You go to Yosemite and complain about the trees blocking the view. You see the most beautiful woman naked and you complain about the color of her toenail paint.

Go back one more time and enjoy the finest dining and shopping experience you’ve ever had. Do it!!! No wait. I change my mind. You don’t deserve Bucees, they are too good for you.

I agree they’re too crowded, but the ones I go to here in Florida (closest one is St. Augustine and the other is in Daytona) are enroute to the largest tourist attractions in the state, so it’s to be expected.

Gas is a few cents cheaper and I’ve never had to wait for a pump. The breakfast burritos are terrible and the brisket/pulled-pork sandwiches are meh, but it’s convenient for blue collar guys like myself if I’m working in the area and failed to pack a lunch.

Bathrooms are always clean and I don’t have to wait for a stall.

I like Buc-ee’s and I’m glad it’s here, but I don’t get the hype either.

And loves to complain about limousine liberals.

We have a Buc-ee’s about 30 minutes south of us in Richmond, KY. We’ve gone once. The exit ramp on the interstate is always backed up there on the weekends (I-75), and there is literally NOTHING else at that exit.

It’s definitely interesting enough (for me) to want to experience at least once, at least for people watching. The merch is weird, like why would I wear a shirt for a gas station? I don’t see people wearing Valvoline or BP shirts.

My coworkers described it best:
CW1: There were about 4000 people there on Saturday.
CW2: 3987 of them were still there on Sunday.

This one is fun:

Convenient for what though? It took forever to move around and the checkout was over five minutes

They’re the devil

Visions of the unwashed hordes milling around trying to get their snacks and BBQ and be on their merry way, wondering WTF the guy in the top hat and monocle is doing standing in the way in the middle of the jerky department looking horrified and disgusted.

I mean, you can get gas, eat, clothe yourself, and/or shit in one go in relatively close proximity to each other…

My wife and I went to one near where we were staying to see what was what. Noisy and crowded, she said.

I hoped to find some unique sodas I hadn’t yet tried, but nothing; a store full of store-branded crap that no one needs. The tiny section at Cracker Barrel was superior with near two dozen varieties. I bought a bottle of Moxie to try.

Have you visited the World of Coke Cola in Alanta? I waddled out after trying way too many unique sodas.

I have not, but I do love a good Coca-Cola. I wish they would bring back the Blueberry Diet Coke.

I have in mind stores like Sugar & Spite in Eureka Springs, AR, or maybe the KC Soda Co. that I haven’t visited yet that have unconventional flavors from bottlers all over the US.

First one in VA is opening July 4, maybe 10 miles from us as the crow flies. I’m not sure if I’m going there my first opportunity (on my commute route) or if I’ll make a point to never step foot in it.
